9 weeks - gush of blood

Hi - just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar. This morning I had a gush of red blood - I ran to the bathroom and was enough to soak through my knickers. Since then it seems to have slowed and pretty much stopped.

Should I be preparing for miscarriage? I'm 9 weeks and saw a heartbeat at 7 weeks x

Give the early pregnancy unit a call, thinking of you,

Sorry you are experiencing this op, it must be very worrying for you. I would second contacting the early pregnancy unit. In the meantime, rest, drink plenty of fluids and try to keep calm (not easy I know).

I hope they can see you asap and thinking of you too

Thanks everyone. I was referred to epau but they can't see me until Friday so I just have to sit right until then. Panicking!

I would go in if at all possible - or get a private scan. I had red blood at 10-ish weeks and am now 34 weeks, but it was traumatising and awful. Thinking of you.

Thinking of you OP, I had a scan recently for bright red blood, I am 8 weeks and they found I have a small heamatoma, luckily the baby was ok, thinking of you Thanks

I had two opposite experiences - one miscarriage where i had no sign, known as a missed miscarriage, and one pregnancy where at about 8 weeks i spent a morning gushing bright blood with clots, and rushed to an EPU convinced i’d lost the baby, but it turned out to be fine and dd is now 6. So i don’t think you can necessarily tell, but all sympathies, i remember the awfulness of waiting to find out.
One thing i was told after my bleeding was to take it easy for a while, so i took a few days off work and just lazed about. I don’t know if it really helped, but i felt better knowing i was doing (ironically) the most i could do.

Thanks everyone. Had a bit more bleeding this evening... not much (mainly on wiping) so am still terrified. Might try and get In for a private scan tomorrow xxxx

With my last baby I bled all the time until 13 weeks. First time was the day my first period was due but I’d already tested positive. It just kept happening. After 13 weeks it never happened again and he’s nearly 4 now. I’d definitely book the private scan

Thanks to everyone who responded here. I managed to get a scan today and baby was fine! They think it was a haematoma xx
