Home birth in Gloucestershire

Can anyone offer any advice/experience of a home birth in Gloucester please? What were the on call midwives like; how did it compare to a hospital birth (if you can make that comparison); did you have a water birth or just lots of old towels and sheets; was the pre- and post-natal care any different/good; anything you’d have done differently?

I’m due baby number 2 in the summer and I’m considering one (only just 2nd trimester, so a way to go yet). Had baby number 1 in Gloucester Royal, fairly normal labour and birth (although long!), but needed episiotomy and ventouse at the end to get her out and she did have the cord around her neck, so that is the one thing putting me off really. We are only 15mins from the hospital, bit longer in rush hour I guess.

Thanks for your advice/experience
