Constipation

I'm 11+6 weeks today and for the past 2 ish weeks I've been struggling with constipation. Whenever I do manage to go to the toilet it's just little pellets and I still feel like there's more (sorry for tmi🤦🏼‍♀️).

I take seven seas pregnancy vitamins and make sure that I'm eating enough fibre every day too.

Has anyone else experienced this throughout their pregnancy? How did you manage it?

If the vitamins contain iron then they could be part of the problem! Iron is well known to bung you up.

Lots of fibre helps but even better is lots of water. If you can't get any relief that way, ask your GP/pharmacist about safe medication.

I had this in early pregnancy and nothing at all worked accept medication off the doctor. It tried to eat all the fibre and veg j could to the point where I ended up in EPU with pain thinking I was eptopic and it was Bowles backs up. Please phone your GP for lactulose it’s not worse suffering

I hime made lots of vegetable soup and had it for lunch with wholemeal bread. Lots of fluid & fibre.
It solved it for me in about 4 days.

Fybogel, I think you can get it over the counter.

Also had such bad trapped wind I wondered if it was an ectopic.

Thanks everyone for your responses :)

I have my 12 week scan and other bits that follow tomorrow, do you think if I mention it to the midwife she'd be able to help me get some medication for it? Or is it just a case of going to the gp?

You'll need to speak to GP. Sonographer at your scan won't be able to prescribe for constipation.

Do get it sorted, if left it can be hard to treat in pregnancy and you don't want months of this!!
