I'm 8 weeks pregnant with my first baby and have received a letter with the date of my 12 week scan. But I haven't had my first appointment or been contacted by a midwife?

Is there anything I need to do?

I heard from other mums / mums to be, that some NHS hospitals do the first testing and scan all at one appointment. I'm heading to my first appointment (8+2) but have my scanned book in another 4 weeks. Other people waited until 10 weeks until their first appointment. Maybe depends on staffing, waiting lists and pressures in your local area too.

Many hospitals do the booking appointment and 12 weeks scan at the same time so I wouldn't worry, it just means you only need to go in once. You don't get many appointments until after 24 weeks.
