Do I need to follow up with midwife?

Hello!

I'm hoping someone can give me some advice.

I had my 25-week midwife appointment last week and my urine showed +1 protein and +1 leukocytes so they sent it off for testing thinking it may be a UTI.

I called the GP surgery and they said that it'd come back negative for a UTI but couldn't give me any more info on what to do next as "the midwife is separate to the GP surgery".

My question is do I need to follow up with the midwife? I don't have a UTI but worried that the +1 protein and +1 leukocytes means that there's something else wrong that may need to be looked into?

Typically, I'd be under the impression that they'd call me if there's anything I needed to do/ if there was something wrong. However, I haven't had the best experience with my midwife as in I've had to chase for things before e.g., to schedule my booking appointment and get her to book my 12/20 week scans so don't want to just assume that she'd call me if needed as she hasn't in the past.

Just wondering if anyone else has had +1 protein and +1 leukocytes and it was all fine/ no further testing after they'd ruled out a UTI? Or what else this could be?

I think I'll give her a call anyway but just looking for some reassurance.

I'd definitely ring her just to see if it could be anyway else, but In my first pregnancy I had really high levels of protein in every wee sample, they even sent me for kidney scans " kidney failure runs in my family " so could be to do with that. Everything turned out fine. No uti though, never ended up finding out why it was doing it. Fast forward 4 years I'm now pregnant with my second, a training midwife took my urine sample and her head turned, I said to her high levels of protein? She said yes and glucose, yet again no uti, no problems with kidneys, I had extra blood tests for diabetes and all turned out fine, every sample I give now always has high levels of protein, but I would definitely chase it up with her to see if there could be another reason, but with me there never has been, good luck x

I got high levels of leukocytes towards the end of my pregnancy, no uti or uti symptoms. They never explained but I should have pushed to understand what that actually meant other than being told “don’t worry”.
All was fine by the way.
I’d give them a ring and ask them to explain what it means.

Thank you both for replying! I've called my midwife and left her a message - will query what it means/ if I need any extra tests doing.

Thanks again!
