Hello! Thought I'd start this group as it doesn't seem to exist yet and would be good to hear from anyone due in November! I know it's ridiculously early days but it's nice to have other people going through the same thing at the same time ☺️ x

@Casper94 please try not to worry about it, I think it's impossible to avoid lifting etc when pregnant or at least it is for me carting my baby around all day long x

Here's the new link for the Facebook group 😊 (sorry they expire after 48 hours so keep having to generate new ones!)

@OtiMama this is the latest link I think x
Casper94 · 21/03/2022 19:05

@pamctake2 thank you, that's actually a very good point a lot of people have to do that when they already have kids. This is my first so I think I'm overthinking how much is classed as heavy lifting - doesn't help that I then got a cramp right after so of course I started blubbering thinking the worst!

OtiMama · 21/03/2022 19:14

@Pamctake2 thank you, I have requested.

@Casper94 try not to be too hard on yourself. Babies are so well protected in there.

BabyGally22 · 21/03/2022 19:19

@polkaqueen wow that sounds amazing!!! Fingers crossed we're on track ❤️❤️❤️

Cheetocat · 21/03/2022 19:31

[quote Pamctake2]@Cheetocat as standard you have NHS scans at 12weeks and then again at 20weeks - some trusts then offer a scan into the 3rd trimester. I've got a private scan booked at 8weeks because I'm too impatient to wait until 12weeks 🙈

@Tzcyp sounds like you are going through a lot... personally I'd recommend speaking through all of this with a professional as it may help just to get it all out there. I think feeling overwhelmed is totally normal even if you've planned it x

Loving seeing so many positive scan stories, so fab you're all getting to see your little beans, I'm getting equally excited/ anxious about my scan next week. We've just listed our house and our and offer in on a bigger one which may be a bit premature considering I haven't seen that baby is all okay in there 😬

Thank you, I actually live in Portugal now which is why I am so unsure, the doctors and nurses here are great, very professional, but I've never seen one about pregnancy.

Pamctake2 · 21/03/2022 19:42

@Casper94 sorry hope it didn't sound like I was trivialising your worries. These first few months are so anxiety inducing regardless of whether it's your first but you'd be surprised how good our bodies are at protecting these babies 🥰

VolcanicProtectorMan · 21/03/2022 19:43

Hi all, been lurking since I joined from the TTC thread. @FourOclock I’ve also requested to join the fb group.

Tiredness is driving me crazy atm. I’m useless by the time its the toddler’s bedtime 😩 DH reckons it’s because I’ve cut my caffeine down drastically but I’m convinced its the pregnancy. I’m only 4+4 though and I don’t think I got anything until 6 weeks last time

Pamctake2 · 21/03/2022 19:44

@Cheetocat oh wow be interesting to see the differences in maternity care, so ignore my previous comment I have no idea when they do things in Portugal 🤣 x

NoaTG · 21/03/2022 19:50

Hi, I’d love to join too. My first Pregancy, I’m super excited

Cheetocat · 21/03/2022 21:10

Yeah, I did look it up, it seems like I'll get on a nice regular schedule of appointments after the first couple in this first trimester and I should have 3 or 4 scans in total. They also give an allowance to expecting parents starting from 13 weeks as the birth rate is quite low here, that will be useful, I want to really splash out on the car seat, I am so nervous about being safe on the road with a baby!!

BabyBird20 · 21/03/2022 21:28

Hi ladies! Have been a but quiet in here since I joined last week as was super anxious about my af due date on Sunday! We've made it past that and seem to have an ok line progression (latest one done this evening on a short hold) I'm 4 weeks tomorrow and I swear time has slowed down!!

Does anyone here have a bmi over 30? I haven't lost the baby weight from my first yet so am feeling enormous to be starting a pregnancy and worrying having read all the negative effects being overweight can have. I read something about needing to take extra folic acid but should I speak to a gp or midwife for advice do you think? Don't know what to do for the best!

@VolcanicProtectorMan I am the same, usually asleep by 7.45 after toddlers bedtime! Have also completely gone off tea so my caffeine intake has reduced to basically nothing from about 8 cups a day!!

@Casper94 I did something very similar yesterday. We are renovating our house and I was trying to pull some old shelves off the wall when I felt a really sharp pull and then got a sore ache in my abdomen, was really panicked but it settled overnight.

Symptoms wise I have enormous boobs, sore nipples, some nausea and cramping and just general exhaustion! I swear I barely noticed I was pregnant at this point last time. Of course I've gone down the google rabbit hole reading what early symptoms mean and if stronger hormones are more likely to mean a bit or girl!I think I'm going crazy! 😬😂

Due November 2022!
Motherofpugs · 22/03/2022 06:11

How is everyone doing, anyone started to get morning sickness yet? I’m 5+5 and woke up feeling really nauseous. No vomiting yet but I threw up loads with my son so I feel like it could happen any day now. Morning sickness and running around after a 2 year old is going to be interesting!

Sleepy95 · 22/03/2022 06:30

Thank you so much! That's so helpful and has put my mind at ease!

OtiMama · 22/03/2022 06:33

@Motherofpugs yes feeling rough already. And I was sick with my son too, at the time I remember it being the worse thing ever but I also remember how suddenly the weeks pass and I hold onto that. Couldn't sleep last night, just feeling sick and too warm.

Sleepy95 · 22/03/2022 06:43

@BabyBird20 I have a BMI over 30 too. I spoke to my GP about folic acid and I am taking extra as she suggested, but I'm going to check this with my Midwife at my first appointment next week as I'm not sure I'm taking the right amount. Definitely a good idea just to call the Doctor or Midwife to check. The pharmacist told me that the Doctor prescribe a higher dose if necessary Smile

Motherofpugs · 22/03/2022 07:18

@OtiMama Yes you’re right the weeks do pass. Also, I know I can go back to the doctors to get meds if it gets really bad again so I know I will be able to manage. It’s kind of reassuring for me anyway as I lost my last pregnancy at this point and didn’t have any morning sickness with that one.

Natalie2304 · 22/03/2022 07:40

@Motherofpugs got my 3+ weeks on digi this morning 🥰 but didn't really need to do it as I too have woken up feeling nauseous. I'm 5+3 today but didn't have morning sickness at all with my daughter so this is all new for me 😩

Feb85 · 22/03/2022 07:42

Morning everyone hope you all doing good. So I have my first appointment with the midwife on Friday and was just wondering does anyone know if you need to fast for the blood tests?

HchyScott · 22/03/2022 07:44

Sooo glad to have finally found this thread to join, I find mumsnet not user friendly at all!!

Got my BFP last Thursday so would make me 5weeks today this is my second pregnancy and I’m so so excited! Already have DD who will be 3 in June.

Need to call the drs for a booking in app. As I had severe PND following DD’s birth and am still on medication which I would like to reduce for this pregnancy. Is anyone else on citalopram? Do you know if we need to take extra folic acid or anything? Have just asked to join the Facebook group as I find it so much easier to interact on there. Hope you’re all okay ☺️

Motherofpugs · 22/03/2022 07:47

@Natalie2304 Yay! It’s reassuring to see the 3+ isn’t it! I found last time that salt and vinegar crisps and sucking on ice cubes really helped my nausea. Hope it isn’t too bad for you.

@Feb85 I don’t remember having to fast for the bloods last time I was pregnant. I have my blood test booked for 8 weeks and wasn’t told to fast for it so I don’t think you need to.

Hannahbobs · 22/03/2022 08:39

@Feb85 you shouldn't need to fast for this blood test, only if you need one later on (maybe 24 weeks) if you're at risk of gestational diabetes x

BabyBird20 · 22/03/2022 08:46

@Sleepy95 thank you so much for your reply, I think I'll call the go and ask if I need a prescription for higher strength folic acid! Want to do everything I can to help the pregnancy! My mum keeps telling me it's ok to try and diet now to lose weight in the first trimester but what I read on nhs says I shouldn't be actively dieting! Trying to at least eat more healthily but it's difficult when all o want is biscuits when I feel sick!

Feb85 · 22/03/2022 08:49

Oh thank you so much for your replies @Motherofpugs & @Hannahbobs this is my first pregnancy and all so new its so nice to be able to get some help and knowledge x

SonicHg · 22/03/2022 09:17

I’m 4+4 today and gained 2kg in weight already Shock
