37 weeks pregnant and I have the worst vomit bug

Have vomited and had so much diarrhoea that not much else is coming out but I still feel horrendous. Have phoned the hospital for advice and they just said to keep an eye on the baby's movements and try and take little sips if I can. Does anyone have any advice please, I'm desperate to feel well again. Thanks

To be honest OP this is how labour started for me! Just drink lots of water and rest as much as you can! Thanks

Can you sip a rehydration drink like diarolyte? I was also advised once to drink flat coke but I’ve never tried that….
Sorry to hear you’re going through this. Don’t sit at home and be worried though, if you’re at all concerned about baby, keep calling the maternity advice line.

Thanks @looklikeanelephant. It's definitely a bug as my toddler had it firsy and apparently it's going round the nursery. Now my hubby has it too. I have never felt so ill though, I don't know what to do with myself. I have the shivers and aches also.

Thanks @LadyCluck. I'll try one of those perhaps.

Huge sympathies I had food poisoning at 6 weeks pregnant and thought I was going to die!!
Can you suck on a sweet to boost your blood sugar levels, then sip some water? 12 hours or so the worst will have passed

MsChatterbox · 28/02/2022 06:11

Get some ice lollies.... Hope its over soon

KPB45 · 28/02/2022 06:12

@clairebear610 I’m afraid I don’t have much in the way of advice OP. As others have said, try and take fluids in where you can and just be aware of baby’s movements, which I’m sure you are anyway! I really hope the worst of it passes quickly for you! 37 weeks pregnant can be uncomfortable enough without adding a sickness bug Sad How has the rest of your pregnancy been? Are you all organised for your new arrival? ❤️

I had flu at about 32 weeks, I felt like I wanted to die. We were both ok.

Thanks so much all. I just want to be sedated, I've never felt so ill. Just tried calling the coke although it wasn't that flat and vomited it straight back up. It's been 15 hours now so praying for improvement soon. My husband has come down with it which is tough as it makes childcare so much harder. Really fancy a fruity ice lolly now but we have no family nearby. Will try and make a plan though. Thank you for everyone's kindness. The pregnancy has been filled with complications and hospital stays and I'm due a c-section in a few days as a result so I could cry that this is the final test of endurance but I'm trying to be strong.

Call the hospital again if it doesn’t ease. I was about 24 weeks pregnant with similar and was admittted, put on a drip and given anti nausea injection.
