“Fetuses Expected”

I have finally received through the post my maternity notes from my booking in appointment. I am around 9 weeks and have an early dating scan tomorrow. On reading my notes in the summary of key indicators it says: ‘fetuses expected’ after ‘basis’ under one of the categories. My anxiety levels are really high currently but does that mean they think I’m having twins?! I know I only have to wait until tomorrow to find this out at the scan but it’s not something I expected to read.

Doesn’t it just mean they expect to see a Fetus/fetuses on the scan? As in that’s the point of the scan, the “basis” for the scan?

I can’t see them having any further information about the amount of fetuses in utero than you do.

Unless it’s IVF and you’ve placed a large quantity of embryos

How would they know you were having twins unless they've scanned you?

Trudie23 · 27/02/2022 21:35

It’s underneath the blood test results. Which made me think could they somehow tell from levels of hgc? I did also wonder if it meant ‘foetus is expected’ instead of ‘fetuses expected’. My anxiety is high at the moment and think this just panicked me a little.

I’ve never heard of this before OP.

Does your blood results include hCG levels? Do you know what they are?

LemonViolet · 27/02/2022 21:39

There is a big overlap in hCG between single/multiple pregnancies but above a certain level multiple would be more likely I think?

chillichutneysarnie · 27/02/2022 22:41

I don't think they even test for hcg at the booking bloods. And your scan is presumably private? Don't think it means anything tbh... it's like on my electronic notes after every appointment it says "today we addressed the following issue: Pregnant" 😂

IsabelHerna · 28/02/2022 06:50

I think it's just a typo. Good luck op!

Nikki037297 · 28/02/2022 07:05

Hcg can be higher in twin pregnancies what is or was your hcg Level doing? I wouldn’t “worry” about it though it’s nothing at all to worry about

ExactlyThis · 28/02/2022 22:35

How did it go?

Trudie23 · 06/03/2022 12:53

Just the one in there!
