Hi i haven't posted for a while so i really hope this is in the right place and makes sence.

Four years ago i suffered a missed miscarriage and after seeing a consultant for a year was told i don't ovulate due to my weight. At my heaviest i was 18st 2lbs. So i joined slimming world back in july and lost 2 st 7lbs. I found out a few weeks ago I'm pregnant. The dr has said I'm about 7 weeks.
I currently weight 15 st 7 lbs and I'm so scared my weight will have a negative impact on this pregnancy. The dr said that due to covid they no longer do reassurance scans and I'll have to wait until my 12 week scan.

I'm scared that at my 12 week scan they will tell me i lost baby at something like 8 weeks. I have no systoms apart from being tired and my lady parts are purple (sorry tmi) can anyone just relate to any of this? As anyone sussessfully carried to term with a high BMI

Thanks for reading

Sorry to hear about your MMC :(

I have a friend who has a higher BMI, she also had a miscarriage with her first pregnancy but now has a beautiful healthy daughter :) There’s no reason you can’t have this baby too!

Please don't worry, I was heavier than you with my first and she is perfect. Keep focus on healthy habits day by day and that's all you can do.

Hiddenvoice · 27/02/2022 07:01

I’m so sorry for your previous loss.

You can definitely have this baby safely just keep up with your healthy habits and low impact exercise. Are you able to book a reassurance scan privately?

Hippophile · 27/02/2022 07:08

You should be able to pay for a viability scan to put your mind at rest, they are c £100.

Homeybee · 27/02/2022 07:58

I have a scan booked for two weeks time. Its the earliest i could get.

I know i have to stay calm and what will be will be but I'm just so desperate for this to turn out ok.

Hey @Homeybee I hope you're ok ❤️ I'm 17.5 stone and currently 20 weeks pregnant with no complications (besides sickness). I also had a MC 3 years ago so totally understand your fears but no reason why you can't have a healthy pregnancy ❤️

Thank you for replying! It gives me reassurance that curvy girls can carry babies fine. Were your scans ok? I'm worried that i they won't be able to see baby or find a heart beat because of my tummy fat.

You could get a private scan to put your heart at ease.
But i didnt get any symptoms until the baby started kicking

Yes, my scans were fine. I'm pregnant again but I have not had a word said about the scans (private at 9 weeks and 2 NHS) so far. The only thing they may do is refer to maternal habitus on your notes to cover themselves if they miss anything, I had that throughout my last pregnancy even when my scan was so clear I could line up my DC now and compare features with 20 week (and beyond) scan photos.

The heart beat should be detectable as it's there beating, even if they can't get the right angles for other things initially.

eastview · 28/02/2022 02:00

Yes I had an abdominal scan at 7.5 weeks and could see a heartbeat. Had 12, 14, 16 week scans also and no issues seeing baby on abdominal scan. If they can't see they will do vaginal anyway but you'll be fine ❤️

Homeybee · 28/02/2022 18:34

Thank you all for replying. I'm getting myself in a right tizzy. I don't really have any systoms and I'm scared that means the worst! Theres just no way of knowing if my HCG levels are fine or if there a heart beat for another 2 weeks 😔 its going to be a loooonnnggg two weeks
