Bleeding in first trimester (week 6)

Hi all!

Looking for help as I've started bleeding (week 6 of pregnancy) it was during a dog walk and it went through to my leggings sad

It felt similar to a very very light and pain free period and now it's just present when I wipe

The midwife told me to just monitor it and if there's any clots to get back in touch. I'm hoping it's just an episode and there will be nothing to it but also mindful it's not a nice thing to happen at all and could potentially indicate mc.

It's my first and after trying for 7 months it would be heartbreaking to lose at this stage sad I'm keeping calm and hoping for the best as luckily I'm not in any pain. My OH is very sad. I feel I just want to go to sleep and hope it stops when I wake up!

There isn’t really anything that can be said to reassure you- it might be bad news, might be completely normal as lots of women do have light bleeding.

NHS won’t see you, but you can have a private scan at this point. They are about £70 and you might be able to get in somewhere this afternoon if you ring up and explain.

A gestational sac, a yolk sac and the beginnings of a fetal pole should be able to be seen at this point. A sonographer will be able to see if there is any bleeding or collapsing internally.

I hope it’s good news for you. X

Hi @Suprima - it was all good with a heartbeat :) bleeding was down to a hemorrhage that is normal and won't impact pregnancy.
