I am 27 weeks, and had BMI of 25.6 so slightly overweight at the start or pregnancy. I stayed the same weight throughout the first trimester due to sickness and started gaining at around the 17 week mark. Now I'm 20-23lb heavier Shock the gain has been from the past 10 weeks!!!

I walk 5 miles a day, eat healthily. I do crave chocolate though :( but mostly eat well and not more than I ate pre-pregnancy.

How do I get a grip on this weight gain. I'm looking at a 40lb overall weight gain if I put this on during the third trimester and terrified!!!

I've put on about 10kg, I'm 28 weeks. I just don't worry about it. I have a healthy lifestyle, I'm still active and I eat lots of fruit and veg and all meals are home cooked. I just don't think of it as MY weight, it's the baby, amniotic fluid, placenta, extra blood volume, swollen boobs, fluid retention... I think the whole weight thing is really unhelpful - if you know you're healthy then don't pay attention to it! If you were only eating junk and never moved from the sofa then that's more cause for concern and not just for weight reasons, but you're not so it's fine!

The baby did most of its growing in size in the second trimester and in the third it will be gaining weight.

I went from 57kgs pre pregnancy to 86kgs at the end!!! Horrendous! So more than 25kgs gain!!!

At the birth I lost 14kgs immediately thank god & then the rest is melting off slowly now.
I’m 6 weeks post baby and I reckon I’ve lost some more of the weight in that time.

You’ll lose a lot at the birth and then afterwards if you eat well and reduce intake. I don’t have time to eat now anyways ha ha.

Before pregnancy I was running 10k a week and eating very well- I’ll be back at this in the next couple of weeks so that will help.

Focus on eating well during your pregnancy - that’s the priority. Stop the processed sugar as that’s not good for you - it’s such a time of stress on the body I don’t think you should worry about weight but do worry about eating a balanced nutritious diet. Good luck Xox

I'm now nearly 35 weeks and started my pregnancy with a BMI of 30. Like you, I didn't gain any weight during the first trimester but starting at 17 weeks I gained weight very rapidly. I have now gained almost 10kg, but my weight has been stable for the past 5 weeks. I'm hoping not to gain more than another kilo or so before the birth.

I think for some the second trimester I'd worst for weight gain, so if you're staying active and eating enough protein I wouldn't worry too much.
