I’m 8 weeks and had a headache all day. Iv been vomiting all day again so I can’t take any tablets tbey just come back up. Iv been sipping water all day: I’m now lying in a dark room. Iv got covid and I don’t know if it’s from that or because of the vomiting. How can I get rid of a headache without taking tablets?

In my first pregnancy I’d soak a cloth in cold water and lie it across my forehead, helped a little. Are you able to keep any fluids down at all? Might it be worth speaking to 111 just to see re. Early pregnancy and covid?

MoonlightFancy · 25/02/2022 20:06

Forgot to say, I really hope you feel better soon!

Are you dehydrated? How much water have you drunk?

PotteringAlong · 25/02/2022 20:09

I know you’ve been sipping it all day but that might only amount to a small amount of water! How about ice lollies?

Nikki037297 · 25/02/2022 20:24

I’m almost finished my second pint in 3 hours. Yes going to try the cold wet cloth that sounds great. I don’t have ice lollies but have magnums

Have you tried the Kool n Soothe strips and 4head stick? I had horrendous headaches and migraines with both pregnancies and they did help a bit. If not I usually just had to lie in the dark for a bit! I hope they pass soon.

Nikki037297 · 25/02/2022 20:33

I haven’t tried them as I’m home alone and covid positive so I haven’t went out to the shops but I would have liked to try them if I had them

Have you got diorolyte or similar, you are probably low in salt/ sugar as well as just water. If not mix half a teaspoon of salt and the same of sugar with a glass of water. You can get paracetamol suppositories from the pharmacy, v useful if everything you eat comes backup.

I had a dreadful headache both times I had covid (2nd time I was pregnant like you). Not much advice as I didn't manage to help soothe it before it passed itself. Hope you feel better soon!

Iv had terrible headaches during the first trimester you have my sympathies. Sleep, a dark room and some food is the only thing that's helped me really.

Heartbeats0708 · 25/02/2022 20:40

When I have a headache that tablets won't shift, I put a wheat bag/hot water bottle on the back of my neck and a cold wet cloth or gel ice pack across my eyes, or frozen peas if I feel like I need the pressure. I'm not sure why or how but it really works!

LefttoherownDevizes · 25/02/2022 20:47

Can someone get to the shops for you? DS16 vomits loads with his migraines so we've recently started trying Calpol fastmelts so they absorb instantly and it helps. For me I find the pain induces the being sick so dialing down the pain helps.

I also suffered hugely at that stage of pregnancy and found the caffeine in a can of coke helped. Maybe a cup of tea if you can stomach it.

Headache was the absolute worst bit of Covid, you have my utmost sympathy. Hope you feel better soon

Thanks everyone I’m sat with a cold wet cloth on my head but it’s not helping.
My partner finishes work soon he can go to the shop for me. I feel sooo sickly again too I think I will have an early night and hopefully wake up feeling much better

Covid headaches are bad I couldn't open my eyes for 2 days never mind look at anything bright never had a headache like it. No tips for you apart from try sleeping for some relief from it.

Nikki037297 · 25/02/2022 21:11

Yes I do think some sleep would help I’m just waiting for my partner to get home with my 4head rub then I’m going to try to sleep the headache is like a tight band all around my head above my ears
