Sweep Question

Hi Girls,

I am 40+3 today and had a sweep yesterday, I felt fine last night, slept through no pains, but this morning I had a little bit of bloody mucus, not much, would this be a sign that things might be on there way or is it just the norm after a sweep anyway?

Just had another bit of a bloody show. Baby is very quiet today also. Anyone any ideas?

it could be either !! sorry.. show can be dislodged by the sweep or it could be a sign of things getting moving

is this your first?

is baby a lot quieter than normal

dkay · 03/01/2008 17:44

This is my second baby, baby is quieter than normal, still feeling movement but more subtle.

did you go over with your first?

40 weeks is not the be all and end all.. a normal full term pregnancy is between 37 and 42 weeks...

what did MW say about your cervix?

dkay · 03/01/2008 17:58

The midwife said I was 1.5 cm dialated and I had a favourable cervix so I'm hoping this is the start. I went on my due date with dd and on the scan with this baby it was measuring a week early so we thought I'ld go early!

I had a show after my first sweep. Ended up having 3 sweeps and was still induced. Sorry could be indicative of either

lulumama · 03/01/2008 18:19

that is encouraging... lots of sex helps to ripen the cervix! bear in mind baby will arrive when ready and don;t be disheartened if it is not for a few more days

dkay · 03/01/2008 18:33

Thanks a million for all your replies, even though I'm just three days over I feel as if I've been pregnant forever as my daughter is only 15 months.

oh bless you, i am not surprised you are sick of it! bath, small glass of wine, strong visualisation and an early night for you ! and sex if you can be bothered

dkay · 03/01/2008 18:46

That sounds so good lulumama, even the sex at this stage anything that helps!!!

to paraphrase Ina May gaskin, it is that sexy energy that got the baby in there and can help get it out too !!
