Numbness in my right arm during pregnancy

Hi everyone, I'm 17 weeks pregnant and for a few days now my right arm had been going dead, like tingly/numb and sore. Mainly happens at night and I wake up with it numb and sore and usually stops but each day its been getting worse and has started to go dead throughout the day i.e. when I'm driving, at work, sitting on my sofa, and it's starting to become quite uncomfortable/achy.

Has anyone else experienced this or experiencing this during pregnancy?

I have also messaged my midwife about this but I've had no reply so may have to contact gp.

I'm 7 weeks pregnant and I've had these symptoms for 2 weeks now. Im waking up in the middle of the night with my right leg completely numb / tingling, fell when getting up to the toilet as no feeling. This is happening most nights. It takes a while for it to become normal again, literally sit on the edge of the bed to put gentle pressure though it. Strange because I toss and turn a lot in bed so not in the same position. I told my husband that I can sit for 5 mins on the sofa and my hand or foot will be completely tingly / numb. This is very unusual for me. I read online it's because of the extra pressure on your spine with your uterus etc expanding.
I haven't met my MW yet but due to get all my blood test etc in over a week. Can you let me know what your MW says? Hope it's normal.

Mind you, just thought... if it was pressure on your spine that wouldn't affect your foot and hand! I get it in my feet and hand like you say.

Yehhh I occasionally get it in my leg or other arm but it's mainly my right arm and hand at the moment. Oh same, I'm always moving around in my sleep which makes it even more weirder.

Good old Google mentioned carpal tunnel syndrome during pregnancy which has similar symptoms to what you said.

I hope it does stop because it is soo irritating!! Hopefully my midwife messages me back eventually but if I call the gp tomorrow I'll let you know what they say and adviseSmile

I think it happens more commonly in legs - apparently it's usually the baby/womb expanding compressing nerves. I've certainly had it on and off particularly in my right leg since about 15weeks - it's often a painful burning sensation as much as "numbness" but midwives didn't seem concerned. I had about a month of pain free bliss around the start of the 3rd trimester before it started again (I'm now 37 weeks).

Particularly since it is in your arm though I would definitely mention it to the midwife again/GP (as it is closer to your heart than your leg is, I would have thought that in theory could be more serious if there is a blood flow issue) - but I doubt there will be any major concern unless you are also getting any swelling or skin colour changes there too.
