So this morning I took two OPK's one at 8am and one at 9.45am, I'm CD21 of my usual 29 day cycle.

Why are these indicating as positive 8 days before my period? Is it really possible to ovulate this late on in my cycle?

Pictures of this mornings tests attached.

8 day luteal phase would be crazy short and may impact your chances of getting pregnant. Have you tracked ovulation before, is it always late? It could be that this month you just ovulated later and your period will also be late, which then wouldn't mean there's a problem with a short luteal phase.

@GinnyBee I thought I ovulated around CD12 this month as that appeared to be my strongest test result when I was using the easy at home OPK's from CD7 to CD15 I didn't bother re ordering anymore so stopped OPK testing.

I then found a couple of the Home Bargains ones and used two this morning and I got strong results from both. I thought it maybe too early to test with a pregnancy test yet so haven't done so 🤔

So if you ovulated around cd12-13 (ovulation is the day after a positive ovulation test) then today would be around dpo8 is that right? It's possible to get a positive pregnancy test this early, but I wouldn't think you'd get it on an ovulation test, but a sensitive early results pregnancy test. I've had a positive on a FRER around dpo8-10 three times now.

I've just checked @GinnyBee so on CD11 which for me was the 13th Feb I got my strongest test lines, so CD12 the 14th I ovulated 😊

I'm just confused as to why I have two positive ovulation tests this morning 😩

I had read that you could use an ovulation test if you didn’t have any pregnancy tests & knew you had ovulated. I tried it as I didn’t want to waste my last pregnancy test and it was positive (100% knew I had ovulated!) did the pregnancy test the next morning and it was positive! Can’t remember how many dpo I was, I think maybe 9? I had been planning on waiting until 11 to use the pregnancy test but ended up using it earlier

@Glenpatrick Thank you, I don't want to do a pregnancy test too early so that's why I did the ovulation tests this morning but just surprised to see the strong results unless I am pregnant?! I'm 9DPO today. I think I will test with a pregnancy one tomorrow. I don't think I can hold out till the weekend 😬

If you're testing early make sure it's a sensitive test! Most tests are 25, FRER is 6.3, and there are some cheapos that claim to be 10 but have mixed reviews. I think cb digital is also 10.

allthingssparkly · 23/02/2022 11:44

I'll order a FRER or Clear Blue @GinnyBee 😊

Thank you - I will 😊

I was the same, didn’t want to use a pregnancy test but had the urge to test 😂 the test I did use the next morning was a boots test, unsure on how sensitive it was but it did take almost the full time to show as positive. I went out after that and bought a first response & a digital clear blue to do that weekend too to be extra sure which were both positive - 24 weeks now!

@Glenpatrick That's amazing, I hope your pregnancy is going well 🥰

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I get a promising pregnancy test result tomorrow 🤞 it'll be a week tomorrow until my period is due😬

I have ordered the one step ultra early pregnancy test strips from Amazon, they're coming Friday so I'll have to be patient until they arrive 😬 I do have one opk left which I may do tomorrow morning just to see if the tests are as strong as they were this morning and in the mean time me and my partner have dtd to cover all bases 🤭

Any update op? Fingers crossed for you

allthingssparkly · 25/02/2022 20:28

I took a pregnancy test yesterday @Glenpatrick and it was negative. I think I maybe testing too early if I'm honest, my period isn't due till Thursday. I'm going to hold out a few more days before re testing. I also may have ovulated later in my cycle.

I will update if I have any positive news 😊 fingers crossed and thank you 🤞
