Hello has anyone had BV at 6 weeks pregnant or early pregnancy?

I seem to be having symptoms of it today. Phoned my midwife who said to speak to GP. Rang GP who said the nurse is off at the moment and no one else can swab!

Petrified after reading online that this causes miscarriage 😭

I had it OP in the early days with my first child. I was treated with antibiotics and also had a swab. I was told that both that and thrush are very common because or hormonal changes. I think I was treated weekly for thrush towards the end!
I think most google searches end in "can result in miscarriage" so try and stay away!
I hope you're treated and feel better soon!

@Wednesdayafternoon did you have symptoms of it leading to you testing? Or just routine test found it?

There is so much linking it to premature birth or miscarriage. The odds are already stacked against me in this pregnancy now this just feels like the cherry on the cake :( xx

@SLW2022 oh bless you! I had symptoms so was tested. I had a lot of issues down there in first pregnancy! I was under the consultant for reoccurring thrush and water Infection so I had ALOT of antibiotics the whole way so I know how if feels to always keep seeing those risks.
With pregnancy everything is a risk, but leaving an Infection is the greater risk so if you're concerned pushed to be checked!
I was really reassured it was common, try you're best not to google lovely or you will end up putting so much pressure on yourself and make yourself poorly.
The best resource to use is your midwife/gp not google because google never makes anyone feel better xxx

I’ll deffo get checked just how I don’t know because my midwife wasn’t much help and neither was my GP. Il try and phone them again tomorrow.

I have had it previously when not pregnant so think it’s an issue I just have but now I’m worrying in case it’s been there for a while before pregnancy as I’d been using antibiotics about 2 months ago and know that cause cause it to come back.

Got some back ache tonight too so not feeling good about it all :( seem to have a new worry daily! Xx

@SLW2022 and it's so so so normal to feel like that aswell lovely, like everything is going wrong etc! I remember that feeling SO well!
Could you have shrine infection or the back ache? Midges don't really get that involved until 12 weeks (my experience), in fact I actually think most things before 20 weeks get referred back to your gp. Call them again tomorrow and push to be seen!

SLW2022 · 21/02/2022 20:49

I will deffo push them tomorrow and try and get them to do it. Otherwise I will try and attend a GUM clinic as seen they may be willing to do it sometimes.

I do feel awful. I have PCOS and endometriosis and was told I wouldn’t convince. I did and it was a massive shock but since that I’ve had cramping .. barely any symptoms other than sore breasts which come and go .. a clear blue that didn’t go past 2-3 and now feel like I have an infection :( feel like everything is going against me here.

I didn’t think I’d ever be the person who didn’t appreciate being pregnant every minute of the day but this seems to have just worried me so much I haven’t got to enjoy it xx

Infections, thrush...are very common in pregnancy please dont worry yourself, contact gp and get prescription xx

SLW2022 · 22/02/2022 08:57

@Somerandomgirl I don’t think I’d be too worried about thrush. It’s seeing all the terrible statistics on having Bv and miscarriage or early labour etc that has made me so frightened :( x

@SLW2022 i know xx they never put the statistics with people that have been fine tho remember that xx
Did u manage to get seen today? If not call 111 and go nearest hospital the gp there will see you. Or go sexual clinic. But please dont worry so much , u would have left the i fection for long time to do anything if at all

SLW2022 · 22/02/2022 13:49

@Somerandomgirl I have been seen this morning. They took a swab and I broke down in tears because of how anxious I am.

They didn’t give me anything and said the results will take a week to come back :( worrying if it is left untreated for a week then it’ll be too late. Hope that isn’t the case though xx
