7 Weeks Pregnant Heavy Bleeding & Passed A Raisin Sized Clot

Hello! I really could use some reassurance/help, I am going out of my mind with anxiety. I am 7 weeks pregnant and for 1 week I have been bleeding fairly heavily, with moderate cramps, like a heavy period. On my first day of bleeding, last Monday (dark brown blood) I was referred to the EPU for an ultrasound, baby's heartbeat was there and they said it was normal to experience some bleeding, and to go to a&e if it got worse.

The bleeding continued heavily every day and became bright red, so on Thursday I went to a&e (waited for 4 hours) to be turned away and told to call the EPU when they opened in the morning. I called EPU in the morning, they won't see me for another scan as I had one earlier in the week and I am not having to change my pad 2/3 times per hour. Very frustrating.

So, I paid for a private ultrasound on the Friday, I saw the fetus and the heartbeat and everything looked fine. She also saw a dark area on the scan which was outside of the sac but she said it "could be cervical bleeding, don't know why". Why does no one have any answers!? That provided some peace of mind, but this morning, 1 week since my first ultrasound, I passed a raisin sized clot. Has this happened to anyone else?? What is going on? Why am I constantly heavily bleeding?

OP, only time will tell. It is that frustrating. You will just have to give it one or two more weeks of being in limbo. It sounds like things can go 50/50, which is what they always tell me at that stage, when I have bleeding.

My current pregnancy also had bright red bleeding around week 7, but is still going strong. One of the things you could ask for is progesterone, these are pessaries that support your uterine wall construction. That is what I did, when I started bleeding in this one.

I hope you don’t mind me jumping on this post, I’ve just turned 8 weeks and saw a baby with a heartbeat on Monday. We were so excited after 3 previous miscarriages- this is the furthest we’ve got to. They put me on progesterone pessaries. Yesterday I started bleeding bright red blood, heavy but has calmed down now and is spotting dark brown. I worried the pessaries have irritated my cervix. I can’t get seen until my next scan in two weeks. Think I will have to pay to go privately. X
