Stomach pain in early pregnancy

Evening all

I am currently 5 +6 and started having mild stomach pain 48 hours ago which got worse last night (sharp stomach pain on one side and generally cramps). I went to a and e but normal bloods and urine so they let me go scheduling me a six week scan tomo by their EPU. It’s an ivf baby first time pregnancy so incredibly nervous it’s an ectopic pregnancy given pain but I’ve had no bleeding - has anyone else had quite chronic stomach pain that’s more than a few hours and it has ended up ok? Thanks 😊

Hey! I’m 5 + 2 with my third baby and have had cramps since before I got my BFP. Today I’ve had a more intense pain in my hip and around into my back but it comes and goes. More than anything it feels like a stomach ache after eating too much food.

I’ve actually had an ectopic before and had to have a tube taken out… I had a lot of bleeding and very mild pain.
I then got pregnant again the following year and had a lot of cramping/shooting pains and was convinced I was having another but all turned out ok! (He’s nearly 4)

I think you’ve done the right thing getting checked but the likihood is it’s just your womb expanding plus hormones going crazy!
I’m trying not to panic with aches and pains as with my losses I’ve always had bleeding.

Hopefully your scan tomorrow will show a tiny bean in the right place :)

Thanks Ellie I really appreciate your response it’s obviously really hard not to be worried particularly after two years of trying it’s really hard. I am praying for tomorrow.

I really hope you are OK too and our beans are just growing away xxxxx

Im 5+6 too and had horrible cramps on and off lasting for hours at a time. Sometimes it feels like a nasty uti but then settles off again. There's no bleeding so I'm just putting it down to uterus expanding. I've got my booking appointment with midwife tomorrow so I'll mention it to her but I know there is nothing they can do at this stage so I'm trying not to worry about it.

I’m so sorry you are suffering too. It is so disconcerting and not something I expected to experience I think of all the symptoms it’s inevitable cramps is something we will always be worried by: please let me know what your midwife says and I hope you are ok. I have been on the sofa on paracetamol with a hot water bottle all day and had an IV paracetamol drip last night at a and e xx

I get a lot of one sided pain, the side I have ovulated from. A cycst forms in the ovary after ovulation and can sometimes cause a little aching during early pregnancy.
I have had a pregnancy of an unknown location before I swear it was in my left tube. I didn’t get pain at first that didn’t come until the bleeding started but I did know something was wrong because my pregnancy line stayed faint on the test it never ever got darker and I had zero symptoms. And absolutely no mild cramping. Mild cramping is good, it means things are growing in there, I had none so I knew nothing was growing where it should be. I told the dr all of this, she thought it was odd I was so sure something was wrong but sent me off to EPU and told them the same, she looked me in the eye and said when a woman comes in here and tells me something wrong, I believe her. She scanned me, couldn’t find anything at all. Said it was hiding somewhere but it was not in my uterus. It wasn’t until a week later when I was getting ready to get it all sorted I started bleeding and aching constantly on the left side.

I hope all goes well tomorrow for you

I experienced stomach pains throughout my first trimester. Kind of felt like first day period pains pretty much every night. Got reassurance from my mum, a former midwife it was likely ligaments/uterus stretching or placenta developing. All was fine, 12 week scan definitely give reassurance so hopefully your ultrasound will be the same!

I’m so sorry to hear this.

Pregnancy journeys are so terrible if they end like this.

My HCG levels were 14000 last night so I really hope that’s a good sign as they aren’t dropping… they’d gone up since 2000 the previous Friday…

Xxx

Saw midwife and she said cramps are completely normal and not to worry if there is no bleeding. She's moved my due date forward by 3 days so I'm 6+3 instead of bang on 6.

Millsiebob · 21/02/2022 20:42

That’s super useful to know! I had my scan and embryo in correct place and saw the heartbeat 🥰🥰🥰🥰… made my life ❤️… doctor didn’t mention it was normal but I’m glad to hear apparently my ovaries are v oversized due to ivf and that could be causing my pain… good luck and keep in touch!

In feeling some slight left sided aching, not in horrendous pain, think I'm about 4.5 weeks pregnant, google sucks, telling me its ectopic

firsttimelondonmummy · 22/01/2023 13:15

I believe this is super common.
I had it from 4.5/8/9 weeks ish.
Tugging sensation always at night, as bad as period pains.
I’m 18+3 and so far so good.
