Masks aren’t mandatory in England in shops etc now either and loads of people still wearing them (including myself). I’m not sure how much good it does in protecting the wearer but it makes me feel safer

Same here in New York. I'm still wearing mine and keeping my distance.
I'm immunocompromised anyway, so I try to play it as safe as possible whenever I can. Regardless though, you won't be the only wear wearing a mask if you choose to do so.

Wearing a mask doesn’t stop you catching anything, they were brought in to reduce people with covid spreading it.

A proper triple layered medical mask reduces transmission for both the wearer and everyone else, so you are protecting yourself as well as others.

Gosh yes, I'm still wearing FFP2 masks which are supposed to give the wearer about 94% protection- even though where I am in Wales it feels like only just over half of people are still wearing masks (and the ones who do are often wearing the cloth ones which don't work well or even wear them under their nose!).

I've done the same since I got pregnant and have thankfully managed to avoid catching Covid (although I have also avoided socialising indoors and am fully jabbed/boosted). After 3 years of IVF this is probably my last/only chance to have a child and I didn't want to take any risks - I have about 3 weeks until I go in for my C section and I'd feel daft if me and my immediate family didn't keep it up now!

I’m still wearing N95 masks on public transport and inside spaces. Generally WFH.

I’ve had a number of friends get Covid in the last 10 days, including those who’ve managed to swerve it for 2 years, so it’s definitely still virulent.

Dontgetmewrong87 · 18/02/2022 21:53

Get an FFP2!!! Really not worth getting covid while pregnant, especially just for the sake of worrying what other people think. They still don’t know the potential effects on you or the baby, so it makes sense to take precautions.

IsabelHerna · 23/02/2022 10:21

I will be wearing one for as long as I need in order to feel safe and really dont care about what others think and you shouldn't either. Your baby is far more important than whatever anyone thinks.

Purplerain1144 · 23/02/2022 13:24

Absolutely not. Work in NHS so wear one all day because I have to. But not wearing one anywhere else. I had covid in December, completely asymptomatic. We have to get on with our lives!

SquigsC · 24/02/2022 12:52

I’m still wearing mine in the UK still and asking anybody I have appointments with (eg hair stylist) to wear theirs. So far it’s worked!

MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 24/02/2022 19:09

I wear one to a hospital appointment or on public transport but nowhere else. I had Covid over Christmas and it was very, very mild, barely noticeable so I’m assuming I now have decent immunity having caught it recently and been triple jabbed.
