Positive stories from spotting through early pregnancy

Does anyone have any successful outcomes from bleeding through early pregnancy?

I am 8 weeks pregnant and didn’t have this with my first child.

Last week I had pink spotting accompanied by pain so EPU agreed to scan me, which was an internal scan. Dates were measuring bang on and there was a good heartbeat. I came home and two hours later started bleeding bright red blood like a period and I assumed it was a miscarriage I was having as there were some small clots. EPU refused to scan me again and told me to wait it out so I booked a private scan for two days later and again the dates were as I expected and there was a good heartbeat within the normal range.

I’ve had 4 days of no bleeding and it’s just started again, browny red blood mixed with discharge after wiping when I went to the toilet - I am a bit constipated and maybe strained too much so I’m wondering if this caused it?

When they scanned me they said there was no sign of any cause of bleeding, such as a haematoma, so that it was probably coming from a very sensitive cervix?

I’m so scared this is going to continue all through pregnancy. I’ve read so many stories where constant spotting/bleeding ends badly so I’m looking for some positive stories please :(

I bled on and off up until 14 weeks. Now I spot once every 2 weeks on average. I'm now 21 weeks. They couldn't explain why but I learnt it's quite common.
Chance of miscarriage after a heartbeat is detected is so so so tiny.
1 in 3 women spot throughout pregnancy.
My spotting was always brown, purple or pink. I had light red once.

xx

My spotting 'experience' is now 24 years old (DS) and has just made me a nan!

Last pregnancy I bled red/brown/pink constantly from 5 weeks to 11 weeks. No cause found, healthy baby delivered at term. The stress at the time though! Sympathies x

I spotted, gushed red blood twice and lost some clots other times. If I remember correctly that stopped by about 18 weeks.
I cried a lot of times thinking I was losing her.

DD was born at 39 weeks totally fine.

I do have a damaged cervix from a few abnormal cell removal procedures.
More than likely why.

Hope all is OK with you.

Bled with all 4 of mine. Really heavy bleeding with two of them. They are all fine and the bleeding stopped eventually.
It’s such a panic. I remember laying in the bath the water slowly turning pink and just screaming and sobbing. The baby was fine. I couldn’t believe my eyes at the scan! I was 7 weeks.

DD10 - I spotted every month until about six months in. I was told that although not ‘normal’, very common.

DS7 I had a HUGE bleed at 15 weeks. This time I was told to remember that the blood is coming from me (possibly trapped in a pocket somewhere) and not from the baby, which was somehow reassuring.

Both babies absolutely fine and now big, healthy kids.

Lots of my friends had spitting throughout pregnancy, especially at the start. Try not to worry. Flowers

Spotting!!

I could have written your post a four years ago, multiple bleeding/spotting episodes in early (also second) pregnancy and pretty much throughout. Overnight hospital admissions at 20 and 24 weeks. Not had the same issues with DS1. They found nothing and was told it’s just sensitive cervix. I delivered a healthy baby boy at 41 weeks. Fingers crossed for you, try not to worry too much. It’s good they haven’t found anything serious.

@Moonshine160 ahhh I just read this and thought of your old post and then realised it was you! I'm so sorry the spitting has started again. I have read MANY posts over the years of early spotting.... honestly so many posts! It really can be so common!
I can only imagine how stressful this must be for you though. Could you push for another scan to put your mind at ease?

Yes, twice (both pregnancies) on and off up until 12/13 weeks.

The first pregnancy is 2 and snoring next to me. I'm currently 12 weeks pregnant and I've had the same again. I've not had a 12 week scan yet (next week) but I've had a 7 week and 9 week scan and all has been fine. On the 9 week scan a small area of bleeding was found and is the likely culprit. First time around nothing was ever found.

7 week scan was internal at EPU after 18 days of spotting and 9 week scan was private abdominal scan. I'm measuring a week behind but growth was as expected so I must have ovulated late.

I probably won't relax until after the 12 week scan but clearly I can have a healthy pregnancy with bleeding so fingers crossed.

I had spotting bleeding throughout the first trimester with both my pregnancies. Pregnancy one is now my wonderful DD and pregnancy 2 is now at 13 weeks gestation and looking fine.

I had multiple epu scans in both and no bleeding was ever seen within the uterus, so I have to assume it came from downstream of that - like maybe the cervix. I have a history of unexplained vaginal bleeding that started when I was on the pill so I suspect o have cervical entropion, though I have no formal diagnosis.

Anyway, point being, bleeding on the first trimester definitely hasn't meant miscarriage for me. Best of luck OP, really hope you get a good outcome.

Thanks everyone. It’s helped put my mind at ease a bit. Sorry for TMI but I think straining while using the toilet yesterday caused it, I’ve now just got pinky brown tinged discharge again. I am assuming it’s coming from my cervix but don’t know how this can be checked? My midwife appointment is next week. I’m certainly not going to dare have sex throughout the whole pregnancy if both an internal scan and going to the loo caused a bleed :(

@Wednesdayafternoon ah thank you for thinking of me, I just hope it stops soon. I did think about ringing EPU again but last week when I was bleeding heavily they refused to see me because they’d already detected a heartbeat and I was bleeding no big clots x
