When did you start to wash all baby clothes?

I washed my first the day my waters broke 😂 (27 hours untill labour after breaking)

When would you wash them?

I'm currently 33 weeks and want to be a little
But more prepared

This is my 2nd pregnancy and everything has been left so late which has been really stressful. I didn’t make a start on washing baby’s things until I was 38+5, my DC1 was born at 39+2 so thought it was about time! Anyway after a week or so of stressfully getting things washed, dried and hospital bags packed I’m now 2 days over my due date and still waiting 😆

Ohhh nooo, this is why I don't want to leave it to late, but also don't want to do it to early incase they get that musty smell if there left in the drawers to long either, wouldn't mind but I bought new drawers from IKEA so they still have the new smell to them😩 mine was born on due date, so I left it untill 39.6😂 wasn't just that tho, didn't have pram set up or anything and my partner was nesting for me washing down all the kitchen coy boards 😳 won't be doing that again! Hopefully baby comes soon for you ♥️

What is that IKEA smell?! It’s so bad isn’t it…

I washed all DS1’s hand me downs we had in the loft at 36 weeks then put them back in some of those vacuum seal bags arranged by size with a label on it until 38 weeks ahead of DS2

It's awful isn't it, I got 2 sets of the large malm drawers and two bedside tables and my bedroom stank for days, the only way I can describe it is "fishy" had to get multiple air fresheners for the bedroom, I actually
Never thought of getting the vacuum packs, thank you so much

@notmelurking that’s so strange, I also bought some new Ikea drawers that were made up a week ago and still have that smell! I’ve opened the drawers every day to air them but I can still smell them. At the minute I’ve put baby’s stuff in some old drawers while I’m trying to get rid of the smell

I’ve only half cleaned the pram. I’m using my DC1’s pram. I washed/cleaned the frame, wheels and shopping basket weeks ago. I then washed the hood and cover a week ago in the washing machine. I can’t actually wash the bassinet part as the fabric doesn’t come off. It’s not dirty but smells fusty after being in storage for about 4 years. The idea was to hoover it/use a lint roller on that part then air it everyday outside until baby arrives. However we’ve had so much rain and high winds this last week or so it’s not been outside once 🤦🏻‍♀️

@Dogt17 I've just stuck car air fresheners in the drawers 😂

Would you be able to put fabric conditioner in a bottle with water and spray that on the pram? Not sure if it's the same thing but that's what I do with curtains and sofas, and anything fabric I don't wash as often

That might be worth a try. Thank you 😊
