Hi - does anybody know if acupuncture in pregnancy is allowed. I am nearly 24 weeks pregnant with DC2 and have terrible trouble with my ciatic, siatic, (sorry, no idea how to spell it!) nerve? Any top tips would be gratefully received!

Hi hannah

Sympathies with your pains. Mine is mostly gone since swearing off the sofa (some sacrifice and sitting against a big support pillow all the time.

A properly qualified acupuncturist who is trained to treat pregnant women can do so safely. Just check. I also hear ladies have great result with an osteopath for their sciatic pains, but the same rules apply re qualifications.

Hi Hannah,
I had acupuncture for restless legs that I developed in pregnancy and it was a miracle cure after 2 sessions. My GP had resorted to trying sleeping tablets which I did not want to take. I know it is a different condition to yours entirely, but I agree with Madhouse - find an acupuncturist that has special qualifications for pregnancy and childbirth and see what they suggest.
