When should I worry?

I'm 6+4 today and this evening have had some red spotting and lower abdominal pain. I had a miscarriage last year and am petrified of it happening again. I know some women spot/bleed in early pregnancy - is it accompanied by very low on/off cramping? Sort of like period pain. Should I ring EPU tomorrow or just try and calm down. Advice appreciated!

I'd ring EPU. Best to get checked for peace of mind x

frenchie4002 · 16/02/2022 20:54

Thank you @NameChangeNymph I thought so too. I’ll call tomorrow x

Hi @frenchie4002

Sorry for your previous lossFlowers

I can't advise on spotting in early pregnancy but do call your EPU in the morning. I've had previous losses and our local EPU were so good and understanding about any anxiety or worries I had. It was never a problem to go in and see them.

Hopefully they'll be able to get you in, get you scanned and put your mind to rest. Pregnancy after loss is so hard. Really hope everything works out ok for you. Xx

@frenchie4002
Awww so sorry your going through this, been through it 4 times myself, call the epu tomorrow to see if they can see you. I always knew I wos going to loss when I seen blood even wee spots, I know people say you can bleed abit in early pregnancy but with what I have been through it was never a good sign. Hope and pray your little bean is just getting cosy in there.

Just to offer a bit of hope, I had bleeding throughout the first trimester with both my pregnancies and first is now my lovely DD and second is now at 13 weeks gestation. I had scans at epu and was told there was no sign of bleeding in the uterus so I assume the blood must come from downstream of that, like maybe the cervix.

DD was born at 33 weeks, though there's no suggestion that that was related to the bleeding early on.

It’s great to hear that @CoalCraft thank you!

I'd call EPU and ask to be put on progesterone supplements. I've had 2 previous losses and have been on progesterone since week 5 of this pregnancy because I had early spotting. I'm now 8weeks so not out of the woods but feeling more hopeful.

The guidance was brought out by tommys. I'll try and find the link for you.

Thank you so much @SGChome20 I will deffo ask them! Sorry to hear of your losses and congrats on your new pregnancy x

@frenchie4002
You had any luck with the epu this morning.

Nikki037297 · 17/02/2022 09:51

With my last baby he’s 3 now, I bled all of the time with him! I didn’t with my others but with him the first time was the day my period was due and I knew I was pregnant a week before that was due so when I started bleeding I panicked and went to A&E even tho I was so early and they sent me for bloods, my bloods were rising absolutely fine well higher than fine, the bleeding stopped it only lasted an hour or two, then it happened again and again and as soon as I seen the blood I always felt cramps but I don’t know if it was just my mind thinking I did. Anyways it stopped at 13 weeks and didn’t happen again. He was born healthy at 38 weeks. How did you get on this morning? How have things been during the night?

frenchie4002 · 17/02/2022 11:42

@Babyghirl they are seeing me 10am tomorrow🤞🤞🤞

@Nikki037297 I’m glad it all worked out for you & that the bleeding stopped! Spotting a bit overnight but nothing this morning and cramps have pretty much gone. Still going to the epu appointment tomorrow just to be on the safe side x
