  1. Why so overpriced
  2. Why so gross?

I've been to Matalan and Marks and Spencer today. Had a good look online and can't seem to find anything that fits the bill!

Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations?

@JuneySunshine yes exactly that! That one looks ok but not sure if a 16 might be a bit of a squeeze for me and my bump right now

SHEIN have a good range of nighties. I ordered one from there.

emma1103 · 16/02/2022 15:43

I just got a £6 basic one in Tesco 2 sizes bigger than my usual size!

TerribleCustomerCervix · 16/02/2022 15:43

I got a nightie from Primark’s very small maternity range.

I also had some old stretched out t shirts from DH which I changed into at one point- did the same job!

JuneySunshine · 16/02/2022 15:45

@HopefulRose Oh no! No idea why its so difficult.

This was another option if you think mine are ok but I do object to the prices

You can search "labour gown" on etsy. People make one's that are suitable for labouring/hospital but more stylish than the standard hospital gowns.

Clockbookbeast · 16/02/2022 15:57

Granted I last gave birth 13 years ago. But I bought standard primark nightware (you may need more than one).
They were also great for breastfeeding in the first few weeks (just pop some pj bottoms on if it's cold).
It was also not an issue with my first when one had to be cut off in an emergency or when one got very stained that it had to be binned.

Carebear99 · 16/02/2022 16:12

OK silly question, do they not give you a hospital gown when giving birth?

JuneySunshine · 16/02/2022 17:34

@Carebear99 I wouldn't think so unless what you're wearing is unsuitable e.g. they need access for the epidural etc.

Shadappayourface · 16/02/2022 17:57

It is suggested that you take your own gown. One for during birth and one for post natal, particularly if you want to breastfeed as you can then take one that allows you to do that easily.

Carebear99 · 16/02/2022 18:14

Thank you. I had no idea but I last have birth in 2001 when I was 18. I ended up having an epidural and emergency c section. I can't really remember it

Shadappayourface · 16/02/2022 18:51

Yeah nowadays with the rise in Positive Birth popularity it's about women feeling comfortable during the birth and losing the clinical feel as well so taking home comforts and clothing that make you feel more relaxed than a hospital gown. Obviously with c-sections you'll have to wear the gowns etc ☺️

Hi op I have been looking too this week and got some from here yesterday. Not too bad with the voucher code. I have used them before in previous pregnancy and they were decent quality

I got a couple secondhand off ebay or vinted, can't remember which, fairly similar to the BooHoo ones linked about. I can't say I love them, but they're unobjectionable, and it did at least mean they were cheap.

babyjellyfish · 16/02/2022 21:00

I just wore a massive T-shirt to give birth in. I was glad it wasn't anything nice because it got stained.

I also bought some nightwear from Seraphine for afterwards. I don't really rate the button down nighties and wouldn't buy them again but the bamboo pyjamas are amazing.

lotsofcupsoftea · 16/02/2022 21:09

@Carebear99 I've been given a hospital gown for all 3 of my labours. They certainly would not leave you to walk around naked if you didn't want too x

DoodleBelle · 16/02/2022 21:17

I just got 2 of these in a 16-18 I’m a 12 pre pregnancy

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 16/02/2022 21:22

I got a couple of the jersey nighties with a couple of buttons at the neckline from Primark on the biggest size so they were baggy.

Ended up with a hospital gown on though because my waters broke in several distinct bursts and every time I got changed and dried I'd end up wet again 😂 so I ran out of clothes!

yorkshireteaspoonie · 16/02/2022 21:22

I've gone with these from Amazon as I couldn't justify the £40 seraphine one much as I liked it. They button front and back as I didn't want something I'd have to take off completely. I never wear nighties so couldn't contemplate novelty pattern cutesty type things that seem to be everywhere

Don't stains wash out?
