I'm 6+2 and today I've had a constant one sided pain where I think my left ovary is. Now I know I ovulated from this side as I felt it (it killed) I'm thinking it's a corpus luteum cyst causing the pain ?
It's like a constant dull ache but occasionally I get a sharp pain when I move in a certain way. It seems to ease off a little when I rest.
Does anyone have any experience ? I don't really wana call the epu if it's just going to be that. Obviously if the pain gets worse or anything I'll have to.
Anyone had anything similiar and it was this ??

I would say if its more one sided pain then always best to phone the EPU incase it could be an ectopic pregnant. They're there for these types of advice/checks so don't hesitate to phone them.

Yes, I had this from 4-6.5 weeks (now 9 weeks) and it was so uncomfortable. Sharp pains when I got up too quickly and a dull ache every time in between. I had a scan at 5w at epau to make sure it wasn't eptopic and also to check for a corpus luteum cyst which they couldn't find. The doctor at the time said some women have unexplained ovary type pain throughout pregnancy and they never get to the cause.
Please do call epau up though, as before this pregnancy I had a pregnancy of unknown location, and the pain was identical to it, that's why I was so worried this time round

Thank you. If it gets really bad then I'll call them but I had pain worse than this last time, freaked out and had a scan and they couldn't find a cause for it ! But then I was just left worrying as they couldn't see the baby either. I don't want to end up in that situation again I need to be more chilled out this time.

@thunderonlyhappenswhenits this happened to me. TMI but does it get worse if you strain in the bathroom too? Mine was dull and achy but intensified if I moved in certain ways or went to the loo.

I did go to EPU at 5+2 because I called and they wanted to rule out ectopic. All was fine, but had a 5cm x 5cm cyst on the ovary I know I ovulated from, so the corpus luteum. I was told to keep an eye and that they’d check it at the 12 week scan, 20 week scan, then again at 28 weeks. If it caused more pain I was to go back, and if it grew they would’ve discussed any necessary plan at 28 weeks.

They also told me that 90% of them resolve by the 20 week scan after your initial hormone surge settles down, although mine was gone (must’ve popped apparently) by the 12 week scan.

Long story short, I would definitely go get it double checked, but if it is a lovely big cyst the odds are all will be well! Good luck x

Hey guys. Sorry thread is a bit old but just wanted some advice. I was admitted to hospital last week with severe sudden abdominal pain.. Was told I was pregnant and had no idea.. ended up having emergency laparoscopic surgery the next day. Apparently my corpus luteum had ruptured and I had bled quite heavily into my abdomen. My head is all over the place and I keep crying.. Is this normal? I was given progesterone pessaries to take. Twice a day for 12 weeks and so I'm concerned that this little thing inside me won't survive. I just keep thinking one pessary at a time. I didn't know who to talk to so just though I'd come here and see if anyone had experienced anything similar. Thanks
