Cramps in early pregnancy

I’m 4 weeks + 3 and have been cramping since about 7 dpo. I thought for sure I was about to have another chemical pregnancy (I’ve had 4) as the cramps felt the same, but my tests have been getting darker and I have symptoms (sore boobs and extreme fatigue)
I’ve had to take paracetamol daily and I have a hot water bottle glued to me at all times.

I’ll be having a scan at 6 weeks as I had an ectopic a few years ago. (Had rainbow baby since then) but I’m just panicking these cramps mean I’m about to lose it.

I’ve trawled the web/forums and I either see ‘mild cramps are normal’ or ‘I had cramps and lost the baby’
Obviously what will be will be but anyone have cramps early on and go on to have a successful pregnancy??

Yes! Terrible cramps and period style back pain. I well know your fears but if your tests are getting darker then try not to worry too much. Easier said than done I know.

Yes mine go into my back too! And like a weird stretching pain in my hips? It’s all very odd. How far along are you?

She’s nearly 3 so not pregnant anymore but I saw your post in active and wanted to jump in.

Ellie1311 · 15/02/2022 10:12

Aww well that’s good to know. Did you go for an early scan with her?

I'm 6+2 and had really uncomfortable cramps last night. It actually started as sciatica (already!) but then moved around into my hip then settled in my stomach. I'm telling myself it's just everything stretching

Its scary not knowing! I’ve had these since very early on so I know I should take comfort in the fact that tests are getting darker but I’ve had no let up at all - they’re there constantly. Maybe all the hormones or something. I’ve got tight hips too! So weird.

I had cramps early on in my pregnancy, I think they were implantation cramps, if you're concerned speak to you local Early pregnancy unit who might offer you a scan?

Hiya, I know you are all further along.. I'm only 8 DPO and today started with AF style cramps and a pain in lower back on right side. Did you have these before testing?

I had severe cramps (contractions basically) in early pregnancy, so much so that I was off work for 8 days and ended up in hospital being assessed for ?ectopic pregnancy. Eventually they eased off and I was still pregnant. I am cuddling my lovely 4 month old girl now counting my lucky stars Smile

sachaf08 · 15/02/2022 21:43

Yes me as well. My cramps were so bad that I didn’t even suspect pregnancy, I was all set to make a GP appointment to check for something sinister and just did a test because I knew they would ask! They were really sharp cramps that gradually calmed down by 5-6 weeks, I assume it was everything settling down after implantation. I remember also that at my early scan at 8 weeks, I had guessed correctly from the cramping which side I had ovulated from. My DD is 13 months now.

Best of luck op- it must be scary given your past experience! Fingers crossed for everything progressing smoothly

I had period like cramps all the way through my first trimester and now currently 37 weeks pregnant. Speaking to friends it was more common than I thought, just no one speaks About it!

SMD16 · 16/02/2022 09:36

Thanks @Ellie1311 hopefully it's a positive sign for me!

Ooh looks like it is a lot more common! 4 more days and I'll test 🤞🏻
