Someone help please!!

Hi there,
Well let’s be honest this weekend has been a whirl wind for sure?!
I had a positive pregnancy test on 20th of December so this would make me at my 12 week mark.

I was 12 weeks pregnant and started to bleed on Friday and it’s carried on all weekend. It’s not lots of blood but I went for a private scan and the sonographer said am I sure that I have my dates right? I said yes there’s no way. She said there was something there measuring nearly 6 weeks. To cut a long story short she told me there was no baby and that the bleeding was a miscarriage! I come home and haven’t stopped crying all weekend.

Now today I’ve been for an internal scan the the midwife asked me the same question? As she she could see two sacs and a fetal pole measuring at nearly 6 weeks?!!!!!

As you can tell my head is all over the place?!
Has anyone experienced this?! Could I be pregnant still?!! Could I be pregnant again?!

This could well be a missed miscarriage, it happened to me. For whatever reason, your body doesn't recognise that the pregnancy hasn't progressed and doesn't stop the pregnancy hormones or expel the pregnancy.

It may be the bleeding was your body trying to start it.

What did the nurse suggest in terms of next steps?

I was given the option of wait and see, rescan in 2 weeks and then medical management (tablets) or surgical management - I went for surgical management so had a small opp about 3 weeks after I found out.

I have to go for another internal scan in a week to see if there is any development with the 2 yolks and fetal pole? If I lost twins at 5 weeks would one of them stay there for another 7 weeks without any problems? I’m so confused it’s unreal!

Sorry you're going through this, I've been there with the confusion and the repeat scans and it really is torturous.
I would be concerned if the other fetal pole is there why it hasn't grown if you're meant to be 12 weeks along?

It really is? Is there a chance that i could’ve miscarried the 1st baby and I didn’t know? And gotten pregnant very quickly? Intercourse had taken place 5/6 weeks ago? I have so many scenarios going on! Like was I pregnant with twins in December? And they stopped growing at 5 weeks? Would one of them stay there for another 7 weeks without making me realise or even poorly?! Just going to be such a long week!

If you had had a missed miscarriage I don't think it's possible you could've got pregnant again as your body still thinks it's pregnant, hence not letting go of the pregnancy. So your body wouldn't have gone back into ovulation mode while still holding onto that pregnancy, if you see what I mean ? I may be wrong but I don't think it's possible.

So sorry you're going through this, unfortunately if you're meant to be nearly 12 weeks and got a positive test that long ago it is most likely a missed miscarriage- your body can hold onto it for ages after, still thinking you're pregnant- I've had one and my body didn't naturally do anything till I was gone 14 weeks!
