My foot sliped off the step and I landed on my hips and arms then slid down from top to bottom. I have bruises all over, carpet burns and aching back but the thing I am most worried about is the fact that I am 5.5months preg.

Is it worth taking to doctor or if something is going to happen I suppose it will not help. Has this happened to anyone else and all been ok?

Im really worried about it but no-one knows except DH as it is so early so dont have anyone else to talk to about it. x

I fell 30 feet off ladders when I was 6 weeks pregnant with DD. As long as you don't have any bleeding you are pretty much fine. Of course it doesn't stop you injuring yourself and feeling like a twonk!

Are you 5.5 months or weeks?

Hi Dragonhart

Sorry to hear about your fall, I had a similiar experience when I was about 12 weeks pregnant. Lost my footing at a tube station and fell down a flight of concrete and steel stairs - ouch! I did go to hospital because I was in so much pain and could barely walk, turned out that I had damaged my pelvis.

However, on the baby front, they told me not to worry at all! Amniotic fluid is the best shock absorber around and it takes MASSIVE trauma to cause damage. Providing you didn't fall on your tummy of course. I fell on my back, bum and sides and they weren't concerned at all - obviously if you have any bleeding or abdo pain then go to A&E asap. Also, they gave me some excellent painkillers so if you are in lots of pain then definitely go.

Good luck and I hope everything will be fine!

I hasten to add - I didn't KNOW I was pregnant at the time otherwise I would have not decided to paint the roof of the chapel!

5.5 weeks! God the brain drain has started already!

Thanks whomoved and missingmyheels. I think it is because it is so early I am worried.

I know when I wake up tom I wont be able to move. Mind you I feel a bit pathetic as falling 30ft or down concrete stairs sounds much worse. Also the only person who saw me was DH and ds!

Glad to hear it! I went to the doctors and yelled 'but I can't possibly be pregnant, I'm decorating'

Warm baths help. A bit.

I fell at 4 months and broke my knee and fractured 3 ribs. I was in a day dream and tripped over a loose slab in my friends driveway. I went to the hospital and was also told that the baby is covered by so much fluid it can take a lot but was just told to take it easy. Hope your ok!!! xx

I wouldn't worry - a gynae told me it was perfectly ok to go on a skiing holiday up to 12 weeks PG because baby is deep inside the pelvis until then and can come to no harm from falling etc. HTH!

Thank you again. I feel awful today but think that is because I ache all over and I am getting morning sickness. Oh the joys of pregnancy

i also fell down the stairs when i was 20 weeks pregnant. I and the baby were checked over by a doctor at the hospital who also advised that because i'd fallen on my bottom/back and not my tummy that the baby should be ok and he was .

I'm 26 weeks and fell downstairs this morning, landed on my back and arse. Was a bit shocked and blubbed for a good ten minutes but felt baby move all morning and no bleeding so wasn't worried. However, DH forced me to call midwife to check and she said I should come in and be checked over by the dr. Just got back and all was fine - suppose they just wanted to doublecheck.
