Did anyone ever have umbilical hernia repair, then get pregnant? Is it ok?

I had a umbilical hernia repair in 2020 as I was having surgery and they just fixed it for me while they were in there lol, is it ever a problem during pregnancy? I didn’t even think about it until just now and I’m in my 6th week. Will it be a problem as my bump gets bigger?

Hey. So I had an umbilical hernia as a baby and had the same concern as you about it being stretched during pregnancy. I’m now 38 weeks pregnant and it’s been fine (I have a massive bump too, fundal height always 90+ percentile)
I will say my belly button (well the small little dip it now is from the stretching 😂) feels a little tight but that might be me overthinking it and that actually it’s normal to feel like that in pregnancy anyway?
Obviously I know mine has had decades of healing in comparison but it’s been absolutely fine and no problems at all.

@Pizzaandsushi thank you that’s excellent. With my last baby it was gross, my belly button was sticking out one morning more then usual and felt sore so I poked it and it squelched back in Hmm hopefully this all goes well

😂😂 oh gosh. I don’t know what it is about belly buttons but they do weird me out! If yours is anything like mine now, you probably won’t get an outie. They stitch is so well, mine could never pop out.
Also to say, I have quite a few stretch marks on my bump (expected them as I had loads during puberty) so was worried my skin just isn’t very elastic and what that would mean for my belly button but it’s holding strong!

I'm currently 29 weeks with my 4th baby.
I have an umbilical hernia from my last pregnancy 3 years ago. I was booked in to have it repaired before I found out I was expecting my 4th.
My bump is getting quite big now and I can see the hernia slightly but fingers crossed I'm not getting any pain from it.
I know it's not answering the question that you asked but just thought I'd share my experience. Hope it helps with peace of mind.
Good luck xx
