Can I take anything for a cough?

Over Christmas and New Year, I have had a cold. Nothing too bad but annoying just the same. I have now developed one of those really tickly coughs that start as soon as you relax or try to get some sleep! Does anyone know if I can take anything (going on holiday on Saturday). Got midwife on Friday so can always check then but I'd like to get something tomorrow if possible.

Think glycerin lemon and honey is ok to take or else just honey as long as its not the 'fresh' from the hive type!

might just try the lemon and honey until Friday. Thanks girls.

cough syrup has been scientifically proven (says my gp) to be totally useless. hot tea with honey and lemon, and a humidifier in the room where you sleep, are your best bet.
am in the same boat, coughs are nasty (esp when pregnant if your bladder control is not 100%... sorry TMI!)
