Hiya everyone. I know there are a few threads on this but I am just so confused and some date back a while and just wanted to see if anyone has any new stories/experiences that they are willing to share.
I’ll be 38 wks pregnant in 3days. Over the past wk I have had to go to the hospital 4 times due to contractions, I had blood MW said she couldn’t feel my mucus plug so suspect that’s been lost. I was advised at the last one that I am just under 4cm, contractions aren’t as apparent now but the MW had said she doubted I would go the week without giving birth. After being told I hadn’t even dilated properly but no closer to giving birth I feel a let down, the pain was agony but as the MW said that to me I feel defeated that I am nowhere near close.
I was told just to rest etc which is fair enough and I know baby will arrive when good and ready. But when I ask the Mw now she just tells me she doesn’t have a crystal ball Hmm . But the stress has only came from our last conversation. It is my 3rd baby last pregnancy was 8 yr ago and I never had this experience previously. I didn’t know I was 4cm with my youngest and she was born within 24hrs.
What a rant I know. I’m at the fed up stage and just want to know if anyone else has had this before.

Thanks x

Have you had any sweeps yet?

ThirdElephant · 12/02/2022 19:45

You're in agony, you say?

I had that with my second. Contractions never became regular or close together- at 9cm dilated I was still only having 2-3 every ten minutes. At 4cm dilated you are in active labour, so trust your instincts. If you think you need to go in, then go in.

2022IamHavingYa · 12/02/2022 19:48

4cm is classed as active labour, unless the MW said she could stretch you to 4cm, that means very little in a woman who has labour and birthed before. Saying all that, you could progress quickly so please go back in if you are still contracting 3 in 10.

No sweeps as of yet. Have only had 3 internal examinations.

@ThirdElephant. Yeah I phoned at about 1am Thursday as I couldn’t cope with it. I don’t like to hassle unless it was really needed. And Thankyou just feel like she thought I was being dramatic but as all the births have been different she can’t really compare to previously.

@2022IamHavingYa

She said “isn’t quite 4cm yet” and just sent me home which is ok because obviously home comforts etc. just seems to have slowed everything down and the contractions aren’t as bad today or I don’t think I would have left the hospital. Just not sure what I can do, just sit and twiddle the thumbs Grin

@mummyh2016 sorry didn’t tag you in the reply. No I haven’t had any sweeps just two examinations. Just thinking the 2nd birth I had went quite quick and this just seems to be going backwards. I know everyone is different but sometimes hearing another’s experience is more helpful than the MW. X

Yeah, my first birth was absolutely textbook and my second the contractions just never became regular, though they were very painful. I only got admitted to hospital because I went in for reduced movements- they stuck me on the monitor, said the movements were fine and they could see I was contracting but not yet regularly enough for active labour, but then said they'd do an internal just to be safe. They were very shocked to find me at 6cm and whisked me off to delivery, and then more surprised an hour or so later to find me at 9cm, still with irregular contractions!

I have a previous thread but wouldn't recommend you read it just now! Thinking of you though and hoping all goes smoothly.

Confused521 · 13/02/2022 15:14

This was me a month ago. Had 2.5 weeks of prodromal (start, stop) contractions. Was sooooooo frustrating! In the end, things kicked off proper 5 days past due date and I only laboured for a little over 4 hours :) I know it's hard but you're only days away from your baby being born. Xxx

BabyMomma9226 · 13/02/2022 16:55

@Confused521 Thankyou for your reply. I was so sick last night which has been normal through the start of my pregnancy until last week. But ended up sleeping for around 18hrs has taken me the whole day to even drink a half pint of water and only managed a slice of toast and I love my food just things that are irritating me Grin but you’re right focusing on the fact that the baby is happy healthy and it’s only days until I meet her. Thankyou again x

@stripey1 Thankyou for your reply. Just this pregnancy is absolutely draining and dragging. And that’s not to take away how happy I am that I am pregnant and she is healthy. It’s just so much on my body this time around. Ended up having an 18hr sleep but not been eating or drinking as much as usual so it’s always something 😂 and Thankyou x
