Restarting strenuous exercise after a few of weeks off

I know the advice is you shouldn’t start strenuous exercise during pregnancy, however, pre-pregnancy I was running around 20-25km a week.

I kept this up during very early pregnancy but week 6 - 8 the fatigue and nausea hit me hard and I missed my usual 3 runs a week.

I’m now at the end of week 8 and feeling like I’m over the worst. Am I ok to start back up again? I am still a bit queasy and tired so don’t feel up I’d be doing what I was previously, but can I restart after a break (and increase to my old mileage if the tiredness and nausea passes after the first trimester)?

My first midwife appointment is next week so I can ask then, but if it’s no harm, I’d like to start doing a bit of rubbing again this week

Thank you in advice for any input

You’ll be fine. You’ve missed six runs, that’s basically a good holiday. Your midwife will probably check that you are exercising, they want you to!

Yeah I went back to crossfire at 18 weeks having not done it since just before I got pregnant, was absolutely fine.

I got a small fracture to my ankle 2 weeks before I got pregnant and have only just started running again at 11 weeks, my physio said that it's fine, that I was fit up until that point, and to carry on and build up to where I feel comfortable

Thank you for the reassurance!
