Christmas cake with alcohol

Just discovered the Christmas cake I have had 3 peices of has brandy in it. It's made my MIL and I didn't realise she added brandy after cooking. I've only had three very little peices and
I feel like such an idiot as I'm 18 weeks pregnant.

Has anyone else had Christmas cake with brandy in it or anything else and was everything ok?

I've not had cake with alcohol but I've had the odd glass of wine. You'll be absolutely fine

You’ll be fine. If you didn’t realise it had it in then it can’t have been that boozy anyway. It would have been a very small quantity.

You'll be fine. The amount in those cakes is very small and won't cause you or your baby any problems. The concerns about alcohol consumption are more about risks of binge drinking and chronic harmful patterns of use; the tiny amounts used in cooking and baking aren't going to cause either of those things. Depending on how much you like or dislike your MIL's baking, though, you could try using pregnancy to avoid having to eat more brandy cake for a while!

Thank you for putting my mind at rest all. You'd think I'd be a bit more relaxed as it's baby number 2 but no.

You're right though @Scirocco it's definitely a useful excuse to avoid any more cakes I would rather not eat 😉

@Mattieandmummy you'll be fine, don't worry. When I was about 8 weeks I was about to have an alcohol free beer and read the back - 0.01% alcohol. Panicked and chucked it away 🙃 you're not alone!!

16th week of pregnancy, accidentally I used Xmas baked plum cake and half glass of wine ! Is it a problem ? Many of the reports says it's risk

If the brandy was baked into the cake, the booze will have boiled off long ago, so I wouldn't worry. I think you'll be okay.
