Maternity pay. What is the protocol?

Might sound a really dull question, but I'm just confused what I have to do now if I have to do anything? I'm a first time mum, so first time maternity.

I wrote my letter of intent 5th January and handed it in to my employer which my area manager took it to where it needed to be processed ect. I am 5 weeks away from maternity leave now and I haven't heard anything? Should I of heard something?. I asked my area manager if I needed to do anything and he just said sit tight and I didn't need to do anything.

What I'm trying to say is, what happens now? Do maternity payments just go in your bank when they start? My company pay 8 weeks extra on top of the 6 weeks full pay and then it goes to maternity pay

Did you hand your MATB1form in? You have to hand that in by your 25th week i think, and then yes you should have had writtem confirmation of your mat pay and leave entitlements

@Lazypuppy yes sorry, forgot to add that. I handed that in the same week I had my 20 week scan in December and they sent it back to me in January

Hr should send you a schedule of payments. I think I got mine about 3 weeks before I went on maternity leave. Speak to HR not your manager.
My workplace had a dedicated maternity person.

Maternity payments will be in your bank on what would be your normal payday date.

I didn't have to do anything and wasn't exactly told anything before hand.

I would speak to HR if your wanting confirmation from them that everything is in hand.

It’s not a requirement to get a schedule of payments. Maternity pay will be paid via normal payroll on the same day as you normally get paid.
