Has anyone ever had a false positive on an IC?

NC but regular on here.

I just want some advice as it's late and I am confused/worried.

Backstory me and husband have 3 dc already, youngest 9 months.

Possibly would have another in 4-5 years. Im 30. Dh 36.

Sex life been pretty much non existent after the baby however the last month it has picked up again! I cant take the normal pill, mini pill/mirena coil due to constant bleeding on either, and we MAY have another so dh hasnt done anything permanent, so to speak. Condoms it is - fine.

We have had no accidents or mishaps but Ive just gotten this test tonight.

The reason I took it was because I came off cerazette in Dec again due to constant bleeding since May. Stopped bleeding in early Jan but havent had a true period yet. so quick test to be sure. As i went to the bathroom to take the test I realised I was bleeding. Typical! Put a tampon in and put the test in the bin without really checking.
Before bed went to change tampon and there was no more blood, pulled the test out the bin and there's a line!

Ive waited an hour and taken another which appears negative but from ttc I understand there's no such thing as a false positive. Might order a frer from amazon to come tomorrow.
Has anyone had experience of a false positive on these one step tests?

Most recent test at the top - taken about 15 mins ago.

Could the bottom one just be a bad indent? I never had anything like this in the entire time we ttc any of our 3 kids. A line for me has always = baby and im aware we are very lucky in that respect

Are the tests one step cheapies from amazon? I had false negatives and positives with those things. Might not be the exact same brand- but look identical! When I was pregnant- they took ages to get a line and were so faint, I've barely see it. There was a thread last year about a whole dud batch! I'd check with a main brand FRER to be sure. Best of luck with whatever option you are hoping for Flowers

@Hairyfriend hi yes amazon or ebay, i cant remember. I think they are mostly all the same. Brand name is One step.

Im sat on the bathroom floor right now looking at a positive and negative test and I dont know which one I am hoping is correct

I'll check out that thread, thanks

Those are so bad for giving really bad evap lines! I would go with the negative test as was read in correct time frame but just to be sure follow up with a different brand!

I had some positives and some negatives for 2 days with these cheap tests. Turned out I was pregnant. I would get a FRER to be sure x

LittleGwyneth · 11/02/2022 16:12

I had terrible evap lines on those exact ones.

LividLaVidaLoca · 11/02/2022 16:25

They’re both either flooded or not dry yet.

I have had a positive on one of these and repeated with clearblue as i was late and got a positive again. Had a test left over so tested again the next day (🤷🏻‍♀️ why not) and got a Negative 🤔. Period came eventually.

What happened OP???

Hello, you shouldn't read a test outside of the time given in the instruction and this is to avoid confusion. A positive/negative result should be read within the time frame.
