Norovirus at 37 weeks

I am 37+3 and I've had norovirus for the past few days. I haven't been sick for 36 hours now but still feel very nauseous and am struggling to eat anything. In 48 hours I've had a banana and a piece of toast. I am staying hydrated with Dioralyte.

I'm not worried about the baby but I am worried about what happens if I go into labour. I genuinely don't think I've got the strength to do it. Even getting up to go to the loo is leaving me light headed and I feel completely drained.

My first baby came at 38 weeks so I am worried it's imminent. What can I do to recover my strength quickly?! I can't eat more than a couple of mouthfuls at a time otherwise I start feeling like I am going to puke again. Or will I magically be able to find the energy I need from somewhere?

Sound like you are doing right things. X fingers feel much better soon.

I’m not sure there’s much else you can do other than to rest and give yourself time. If it makes you feel better, I’m 40 weeks tomorrow and have what I think is the start of a chest infection. I’ve done a lot of googling and reading of old Mumsnet posts, and the general consensus is that even if you’re really poorly in labour the adrenaline will kick in and get you through it. Hope you feel better soon x

Thank you both. I am really hoping to get a few days of being able to eat normally before this labour begins. I will definitely need adrenaline! Hope you feel better soon @Dove88 - I've just recovered from a chest infection and thought I was home and dry! More fool me!

Hugs i had this at 38 weeks in last pregnancy. I was bringing up bright green bile exactly like in the exorcist 😱
I told my DH i wanted to die to be put out of my misery 😄 It was HORRENDOUS.

My labour didn't start until after i was better 😊

Yep, bright green bile here too! Absolutely disgusting! I have eaten a couple of crackers and some rice. I still feel queasy and the acid reflux is ridiculous.

Hope the baby gets the memo that I need some time off for good behaviour before he or she gets here!

I think often your body knows what it can cope with and if you are sick your body will know now to go into labour yet .
