Hey all, now 8 weeks but had an early scan, thought I was 9 weeks just about, was told the baby measured 6+4, so have to go thru the early stage worrying longer!! Midwife sed I must have conceived later than thought, was told this at an early scan with my ds, 10 months, they sed I was a week behind but then he caught up by next scan, it is confusing and incredibly annoying, as before my ds i had 2 miscarriages so going thru the early stage for longer than necessary is sooo worrying, I also have dd, aged 6, anyone have any advice on this?

how irritating for you- I thought I was about 8 weeks and was also measured 6 weeks at early scan. then at nuchal/subsequent scan they put me back to my original dates (which was a bit late as like you have had previous m/c so was hacked off at being earlier than I thought).

I think its so subtle the difference between dates that early that you can vary quite a lot by time you're at 12 weeks or so.

yes very annoying
BUT I thought I was about 10 weeks and went for a dating scan and it was measuring 5+4 and therefore they couldn't get a heartbeat

I was shocked but they were sure that I had just got my dates wrong (concievable ((he he)) since we hadn't been trying) and to come back in one week as then they would be able to see the heartbeat
Longest week of my life but all was well and Gecko is currently eating milky buttons and shouting at the xmas tree

Hi poppy34 its so bloody annoying isn't it? Cos wat du tell people, I am 8 weeks or 10?! The midwife sed t go by the measurement I was given but the 12 week scan is accurate in dating!! Bloody nightmare, plus my tummy looks more like jus over 10 weeks than 8, they have still kept my due date the same tho, 25 july xx

yes I had my dates completely wrong and I was only 5+4
when I went back one week later measuring 6+4 and seeing a strong heartbeat

I had never known till then that they can't see the heartbeat till 6 weeks.

Also amazed that they can see it very soon after the 6 week mark...like 6+4

Oh dear - well I went forward a week yesterday and the sonographer said: TBH it's all a bit random before 10 weeks anyway!

Dragonhart · 01/01/2008 19:36

I went forward with DS1 and backwards with dd2. The sonographer also said to me it is only an estimate. Guess that is why few babies are born on their due date

Hope the time goes quick for you xxx

Hi. Im new on here. So hello all. Its so annoying I know how you feel!!Im 14 weeks today but from what i have worked out am 17 weeks, had scan 2 weeks ago and they put me back!! Could i be further gone in my 20 weeks scan??xxx

KelaS · 07/01/2008 09:53

I was the same Suzie, although the other way around - I thought I was about 12/13 weeks when I went for my dating scan (although wasn't totally sure), was told I was actually 15 weeks - bit of a shock to find I was that far through an accidental pregancy!!! But at my 20 week scan I did ask if the dates were still the same and was told that they wouldn't change from the date I was given at my dating scan, I think because they can be more accurate at that stage in pg.
