Placenta praevia?

Hi I just had my 20 week scan and I have placenta praevia. I am really worried and just wanted to hear stories from other ladies who had it? When did you have to deliver? Was everything okay?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

My dc are adults now but recall vividly being told after a scan with DC3 that I had placenta praevia. They said I'd need to go into hospital a couple of weeks before my due date to be monitored. This was an issue as I'd already got 2 young DC.

Remember asking the midwife what to wear when in hospital during this pre birth period and was told comfy lounge wear would do nicely.

After a few weeks I felt prepared and was almost disappointed when at my next scan baby had moved and I no longer had placenta praevia.

I had it with my third. It was completely covering the cervix.
From what I was told 98% with move on it’s own as your belly grows. Only 2% end up needing a csection solely because of placenta praevia.
So the odds are in your favour that it will move Smile mine did and I went on to have a super smooth home birth

Yes mine moved too before birth x

Also had placenta praevia diagnosed at 20 weeks. Like pp it moved as I grew and caused no issues at delivery when DS was born at 30 weeks (unrelated to the placenta issue).

Good luck!
