I have a 5min free 4D scan booked for next week when i will be 19weeks, my question is will i actually be able to see anything clearly? Has anyone done this scan this early?

Thank you in advance x

I think they recommend them from abit further on but at my 10+6 private scan they switched to 4d for me briefly so I could see baby properly (they weren't moving and I was abit worried so think they did it for reassurance). It was so weird but baby definitely looked like a little alien baby so I am sure you will still love it!

I had 2 of them with my DD and my opinion is that watching them on screen was interesting, but my photos were honestly bad, the 3D was much better! I wouldn’t do 4d again to be honest. Maybe my ones were weird (attached). But the first which was 20 weeks and better she was covering her face. The later one, she looked like a slightly scary monster and I wish I hadn’t seen those ones lol.

I had one and didn’t actually like it, it just looked weird and alien and gave me nightmares. Wouldn’t have one again.

Not worth it IMO. All babies look to the same in 3D. Plus it's hard to get a really decent look at the face. I've never looked at mine since I had them done over 4 years ago.

But if you're a first time parent it does make for a fascinating insight into the womb

I wouldn’t say it’s worth it that early. We had a 4d scan at 25w and it wasn’t worth it. The quality of the images was poor, as the baby didn’t really have enough fat on them to see clearly. We had another one at 29 weeks and it was amazing. Really cute little photos, and looks completely different to friends scans I’ve seen, so I’d say it’s not true at all that all babies look the same on 3D. No point doing it so early though, or at least keep your expectations very low

Thank you for the replies everyone, i ended up not going for the scan because like most of you said its just too early and no point i guess 🤣 ill just wait a few more weeks xx
