Okay so I went into triage yesterday as my vision has gone very weird like I'm seeing black dots all the time, then sometimes like flashing lines, I have had a headache for like 3 days and after having paracetamol it becomes very dull but still there. I have slept so well and just wake up shattered like I haven't slept in days, I'm 28 weeks pregnant. 2nd pregnancy and I do not remember feeling like this with my first.

Had my obs done yesterday at triage bp was fine, and so was urine, the week before I went in and had bloods done that was all fine. Thyroid also checked and was fine. I do have a pulse rate of 120-140 resting but that's been looked into by a consultant. I feel quite foggy and just not 100 percent any ideas ?

PE would be my concern, call triage agin and ask for another BP check?

Again I suggest it might be pre-eclampsia. Have they not done any blood tests?? Go straight back and sit yourself down in the midwife assessment unit and get across that you feel really really strange. They should be taking this more seriously.

DropYourSword · 07/02/2022 10:13

I'd go straight back and get rechecked. You're mentioning classic signs of pre-eclampsia.

DropYourSword · 07/02/2022 10:14

Or I suppose it could also be a migraine. But definitely get checked out!!

I am seeing my midwife for my 28 week appointment in a bit should I just mention it there ?

They did do bloods but a week ago they didn't seem to concerned at all to be honest, they were very busy maybe that had something to do with it.

How long can they last ? It's been a about 3 days and I'm eating and drinking plenty

I had that for the first time when I was pregnant and now I I still get it sometimes before my period so I'm pretty sure it's a migraine. But it could be pre-eclampsia so do talk to your midwife.

ThisOneNow · 07/02/2022 10:19

When I get it I feel a bit zoned out for a couple of days, headaches on and off and blurred vision for an hour of so once or twice over a couple of days.

Your seeing your midwife today? Great, tell her all of this. What was checked last week and all the ongoing symptoms. Don’t leave anything out. Don’t minimize it. She’ll want to check for pre-Eclampsia.

I will do Thankyou

If all the tests are fine again, ask specifically in what circumstances you should come back/call back eg. If the headache doesn’t go away, if you feel faint, if the blurry vision comes back/gets worse/doesn’t go away.

FoxtrotSkarloey · 07/02/2022 10:24

I can't quite tell from your OP if you had these symptoms when you had bloods done but it sounds like not. If the mw appointment is today, then make sure you mention it to her.

Allpenguinsarepingus · 07/02/2022 10:25

Also you can tell her you’re worried because the symptoms match pre-Eclampsia. She should be able to reassure you by explaining what they are testing and what the results mean and what monitoring they do for these kinds of ongoing symptoms. (I’m not a midwife or dr btw) but if PE is ruled out because there’s no protein in your urine or whatever that might confirm that it must be a migraine but it wouldn’t mean you can’t possibly develop PE at some point so they’d still want you to come back in if it doesn’t go away/gets worse/comes back.

Could it be a posterior vitreous detachment - not as serious as it sounds? I had it in one eye last year and had the same symptoms.

So here an update, I had my midwife appointment and she said urine and blood pressure were all fine again, and I explained I was seeing stars in my vision and she just said if it gets worse go into triage she didn't seem concerned about it all. My headache is still there and I am so tired.

I have a blood pressure machine at home as I was worried about everything, and I just took a reading of 152/80 but then left it 30 mins and it's gone down for 139/75

I feel like the second reading could still be high for me, but it was fine at my earlier midwife appointment can things change so drastically so fast ?

I've also got a pain under my left boob is that something to worry about I thought it was your right in pre eclampsia
