After this baby I don't want to have anymore, how do I convince DH to have the snip then?

It seems to me I've done all the hard work so far, carried the babies, given birth, breastfed, yet he shudders each time I mention the snip and says why can't I be done.

This is making me very cross. He agrees two is enough but I can't get him past the 'well if we don't want to have anymore something must be done' stage.

Anyone else in this position? Or anyone solved this problem and care to share how????

Ah well mine says 'well can't you have another caesarian and have it done at the same time'

That would be a NO then.

I'm thinking hedge trimmers at dawn at this rate

We don't get that many opportunities clara - we have another child who doesn't sleep!

Thing is though, he's 20 years older than me, he's not going to think in ten years time 'ooh maybe one more' I'm not either but the point is, I've done my bit here! His turn!

Tell him he's never having sex with you again??

My dh initially was the same but after having 4 dc and bfing etc he saw the sense.

Hope he changes his mind xx

eandh · 31/12/2007 15:21

same problem here -I dont want to on the pill much longer and havent got many other options - think a sex ban may be in order

finallypregnant · 31/12/2007 16:48

without being rude, why don't you get sterilised?

DoubleBluff · 31/12/2007 16:53

I have nagged my Dh for the last 3 years. It was only when my doctor refused to prescribe me the Pill and I insisted on using condoms he finally went and got an appt.
Tell him that when I came off the pill my libido increased dramatically so it may be worht his while in the long run!

finallypregnant - because its surgery requiring a general anaesthetic - I've had bad reactions to anaesthestia and they won't do it for at least three months post partum in case I change my mind so I can't have it done at the same time as a caesarian, even if I do end up having one.

Oh and as for withholding sex, we've had sex twice since DD was born - both times I got pregnant - miscarried the first one, the second - well I'm on nearly ten weeks now and all is well. So it definitely only takes once!

My DH is a walking advert for the snip! He recommends it to everyone..he honestly said it was just a really mild discomfort for the op itself and then he was fine. Do you know anyone who's had it done? What were their experiences?

FoghornLeghorn · 31/12/2007 18:54

I'd like to know the answer to this too WMMC. I am currently pregnant with DC3 and I think it is totally right DH has the snip, he wholeheartedly disagree's. My arguements are totally the same as yours. I feel for you

whomovedmychocolate · 31/12/2007 19:13

Turkeylurkey - well that's part of the problem, his one friend who had it done got an infection and well - green willy - you get the picture

I want dh to have the snip to, but he keeps putting of.

So i am back on the pill for the moment. When i was on the pill after dd1 it made my PMT much worse.

I have been packing up all of dd2 clothes (0 - 3mths) which no longer fit her and i told him i was sending them to a charity shop and he said arn't you putting them the loft . I just said to him i have had 2 9lb plus babies i was not having anymore.

I also think that it easier (less complicated) to sterlise a man then a woman.

LOONEYplayingachristmasTUNEy · 31/12/2007 22:19

Well my sister was sterilised in Sept and a couple of months later got pregnant and nearly died as it was ectopic - she had emergency surgery and they removed both tubes so this couldn't happen to her again. NO WAY will I be sterilised and dh is so sure he doesn't want anymore, he has the next 5+ months to think about having the snip then!!

hazygirl · 31/12/2007 22:25

16 years ago i had my 3rd dd and when i had post natal she askedabout contraceptive and i said dh wanted snip but too embarrsed to see anyone so she put him on list to see consultant and when it came through he saw sense, i had a retained placenta and ended up very ill so it was sensible even though his family thought he was mad
