Neat Bump?

I'm currently 32 weeks pregnant. People keep saying I don't look that far along and I have a very neat bump. I know they are implying my bump is small, but what does having a neat bump really mean

I type this as I hold my newborn 9 pounder. My bump was HUGE but everyone - including midwives - told me it was neat, as in like a beach ball stuck up my jumper Grin I think what they meant is that it was all out front and lovely and round; I don't think the size played a part in it!

I'd have loved a neat bump op. Mine was wide and a B bump mostly. Everyone told me how strange shaped it was. Made me really self conscious.

Am 9+3 with another now and am already dreading the comments.

It doesn't really mean anything. It's just something people say. I got told I had a neat bump by some people and a big bump by others.

As someone who currently has a massive bump (one which people can’t stop staring or pointing out), take the compliment and find something else to worry about 🤣

They basically mean the rest of you still looks slim. Neat isn't really a comment on the bump size in my experience, it's more if the rest of you has increased in size or if you have the bump only.

I had this the whole way through my last pregnancy and I concluded in the end that it just meant my bump was at the front and the rest of me was still slim. My baby was 9lb 5 so it clearly had no impact on her size!

If you had a big bump you'd probably get 'are you sure you're not having twins?' Grin

Roselilly36 · 06/02/2022 17:02

I expect they think they are giving you a compliment OP. People say weird things when you are pregnant, just ignore it. I had a neat bump with DS1, but I looked like a ship 😂 with DS2 a year later! Many congrats Flowers

All mine have been neat bumps, didn't look pregnant from behind etc. My bumps have been small (think the maximum I'v measured was 35 weeks with DC3) but my babies have been quite big. Tbh some people feel the need to make a comment on women's bumps, usually neat, small or big.

Lady0racle · 06/02/2022 17:41

I always thought a neat bump meant you hadn’t put on weight elsewhere. I had a huge arse and face when I was pg the second time. I’d have loved to have had a ‘neat bump’!

I’m 31 weeks with twins and huge. People tell me I’ve got a neat bump. It just means you just have a bump and look normal sized everywhere else.

I look like I’ve eaten a space hopper, I would not describe it as neat.
