Threatened Miscarriage Pregnant with Twins

Hello, looking for any advice out there for pregnancy after a threatened miscarriage.
Last week (5 weeks pregnant at this point via IVF) I started very heavily bleeding on Saturday night. Some clots. It continued through to Sunday and I ended up going to A&E.
On Monday morning I was referred to EPU where they were as surprised as me to tell me that not only am I still pregnant but it is twins! I was (still am) in utter shock.
I have worked from home this week, taking it easy bleeding became lighter and stopped all together by Tuesday. As the hospital couldn’t tell me why this has happened I am now in constant fear that whatever it was could happen again. My anxiety is out of control.
Any advice on anyone this has happened to? What was it? Is there a chance it could happen again?
I have a scan booked in just over a week to check how everything is (at which point I’ll be 7 weeks). The wait is agonising!

This is pretty much the same as what happened to me. Had 2 lots of bleeding but too early to scan. Had a scan at 5wks 5 days and all was ok! Didn't have any further bleeding. Was also ivf pregnancy.

Very heavy bleed at 6 weeks.. Thought it was all over.. Devastated.. But she's now 28!(bled on and off throughout whole pregnancy.. In fact with DS I had another heavy bleed on the day of my GM funeral and didn't even tell anyone.. He's 25 next month) Good luck OP... X

I'm pg with ivf twins too. I had lightish but persistent bleeding from about week 6-8. Upped my progesterone. Both still fine so far! I think bleeding in twin pregnancies?

Sorry I think it's just a bit more common in twin pregs that should say

I am taking Cyclogest preserves twice a day. Hopefully they are doing what they do to!

I had bleeding (although not very heavy) at about 8 weeks with IVF twins - now 11+3 and so far everything has been fine!

The EPU said twins just cause everything to move and stretch twice as quick so bleeding can be really normal

I also had bleeding at 11 weeks a huge amount with massive clots and I thought I'd lost it, however I got scanned and baby was still there wriggling away! She couldn't even see where the bleeding had come from and said sometimes it can just come from the cervix for no reason unexpectedly so try not to worry :)
