Thrush in pregnancy

I'm 23 weeks and I have near enough continuously had thrush since about 9 weeks. If it's been worse I've used canasten cream for a few days but it just won't go. It's really uncomfortable and has just ruined our sex life as well as it's too painful.

Has anyone used the canasten gel pessary? I've been reading online and it appears to be safe but was just wondering..

Any other advice to get rid of it?

Hi @jodesxx I had some bleeding at 18 weeks and went for a cervix check they took a swab and found out I had thrush the doctor gave me cream and a pessary which I decided to use and after a couple of days didnt even need the cream anymore it helped me so much I would recommend you give it a try.

Might need a course of pessaries to get rid of it

@Dee2349 I've ordered one to arrive tomorrow so thinking I'll give it a go. Just so fed up with it now!

I used a pessary and it came back within about 3 days Sad keep using them (with GP's ok or course)

A GP should prescribe a course of pessaries to take over several days as just 1 may not be enough

@jodesxx I do agree with everyone else that you should ask your doctor to prescribe it for you or give your doc a phone 2moz and if they say it's ok then use the one you've ordered but you might need more than one.

I’m 22 weeks and had thrush quite a bit too 😣 and agree it’s made sex really painful. I phoned gp about 3 weeks ago, he gave me the Caneston pessary and cream. Definitely worked but I must be honest thrush is back and I’ve been trying to keep it at bay with just the cream but think I’ll have to get another pessary. As far as I know thrush is quite common in pregnancy, I’m not usually one to get thrush. Phone your gp and hope yours clears up x

I just did a 7 night course of pessaries and this has cleared it up. Had to be prescribed by Dr though, get an appointment 😊
