Slow rising low hcgs

Evening,
I am looking for some hcg experiences from early pregnancy please :)

My hcgs are a bit all over the place
177 - 4 weeks 2 days
148 - 48 hours later
206 - 72 hours later
373 - 48 hours later
815 - 96 hours later
1041 - 48 hours later

I have had three scans, they can’t find an ectopic but my uterus is empty and measuring 12mm lining.

I know this is probably going to end in tears but any experiences that are similar (whatever the outcome) are all very much appreciated :)

Hi @Dreamingof2

I'm in a similar situation and I've not had a solid answer of what is going on yet. I've been told by EPU it's non-viable due to my static HCG levels and nothing seen in a scan.

I started bleeding 2 weeks ago today (23/01) with cramps and have had 4 blood tests and 1 scan...

23/01 - 227
25/01 - 217
27/01 - 221
31/01 - 323

Bleeding completely stopped 29/01 and I only had cramps on 23/01 which is why I was referred to EPU, not had any since.

I had an internal scan on 25/01 where they couldn't see anything in my uterus or tubes.

I wasn't really told anything throughout so when I was told it wasn't viable 01/02 it was a bit of a shock. But because I hadn't had any more bleeding or cramps the consultant agreed to wait and I'm going back 10/02 for more bloods.

I have read a few posts about ladies who have had slow rising HCG levels that have gone on to have healthy babies, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up.

Your levels do seem to be increasing though which is positive, whereas mine are more 'static', hoping I'll know more after my bloods on Thursday.

Have you got any more blood tests/scans scheduled? How far along are you now? I'm technically 8+3 today, boobs still tender and tingly, heightened sense of smell and my belly feels bloated and tight - so it's hard not to still feel like I'm pregnant.

Hope we both get some answers soon xx

Thanks so much for sharing @foxy90
Gutted you’re going through this too but also nice to speak to someone who knows how I feel.
Yes, I have another scan either tomorrow or Tuesday just waiting to hear. I am 6 + 4 today, I have been told that the pregnancy isn’t viable too which was hard to take at first as I have been trying to get pregnant for almost two years but I have come to terms with it now. I just hope and pray that it is not ectopic as I know how dangerous that can be.

No problem @Dreamingof2

Yeah it's nice to know that you're not the only person going through it.

Fingers crossed that your next scan shows what's going on and that it isn't ectopic. If you feel up to chatting after, it would be nice to know how you get on 💜

Isn't the wait agonising? It feels like that's all I've done this last 2 weeks, wait from one appointment to another! Even more so when you've been ttc for so long.

I keep hoping I'm a medical marvel and that it was just a blip it would be nice to be able to enjoy being pregnant rather than just worrying and dreading every visit to the loo in case something has happened!

Keeping everything crossed for you 🤞 xx

Dreamingof2 · 06/02/2022 17:23

@foxy90 that’s exactly what I keep thinking - please let me be in the 15% of women who’s hcgs don’t rise normally. Wishful thinking I know!
Yes I will definitely let you know how it goes, it always makes me sad when I read a thread and then there’s no outcome so I won’t do that :)
I have my fingers and toes crossed for you too xx

So I have an update…..

I had another scan this afternoon and my pregnancy has been found in my uterus thank the lord!!

The bad news is there is only a gestational sac and a yolk sac - no fetal pole. I have been spotting on and off and today before my scan I started bleeding red blood. I’ve been told it’s a failing pregnancy and I will likely miscarry over the next few days.

I’m feeling so much better though as I was terrified it was ectopic. I am obviously sad but having already grieved this pregnancy when my hcg initially dropped, I am now feeling ok.

Hope you get the answers you need soon @foxy90, thinking of you xx

Really sorry to hear your bad news @Dreamingof2 😢

I'm glad you got some answers and know whats going on though, so you can draw a line under it, heal and try again when you're ready.

I hope the bleeding doesn't last too long for you.

I know what you mean about having already grieved, I spent most of last week wrapped up under my duvet sobbing, so whatever my news is at the end of the week I'm hoping I'll be more prepared than I was last week!

Sending you lots of love ❤️ xx

Dreamingof2 · 09/02/2022 21:17

I miscarried today. I’m glad it’s over but also sad at the reality of it :(

Oh bless you @Dreamingof2, so sorry.

Sending you much love and I hope you have a speedy recovery both physically and mentally ❤️

Always hear if you just need to chat to someone xx

foxy90 · 10/02/2022 14:29

Hope you're doing ok today @Dreamingof2 ?

I just thought I'd let you know that I'm 100% certain I miscarried this morning (lots of bleeding and thought I was going to pass out) I had my EPU appointment at 10am anyway so went in and explained what had happened and they are pretty certain it was a miscarriage, but I'm just waiting for my bloods to come back to confirm.

Dreamingof2 · 10/02/2022 20:45

@foxy90 how are you feeling now?
What a crap start to 2022 for us both 😣

@Dreamingof2
not too good, been cramping a lot this evening, hot water bottle to the rescue! Also had a call from the EPU with my blood results, they're worried it's ectopic as my hormone levels increased to four hundred and something so I've got to go back tomorrow morning to see the doctor to discuss medical intervention 😖

How are you doing today?

I know 😔 hopefully the rest of 2022 will be better 🤞 xx

Dreamingof2 · 29/05/2022 12:58

@foxy90 how are you? What was your outcome? xx

Hey @Dreamingof2
So they kept monitoring my HCG levels after what I thought was a miscarriage but they didn’t drop, so I had to have the methotrexate injection 😞
Had it on the 14th February (happy Valentine’s Day to us 🙄) didn’t have any bleeding as they told me to expect.
My HCG levels dropped to 0 by mid-March.
Had a period about 3 weeks later, but not had once since, so I’ve got a blood test on Tuesday to see what’s going on.
Still a waiting game for us as they said we can’t TTC again until August but with my cycles being messed up it probably wouldn’t happen anyway.
How are you doing?

Dreamingof2 · 29/05/2022 13:30

We had our testing on the miscarriage back and it was a trisomy problem (can’t remember the number without looking it up).
The issue was three of a chromosome rather than the standard two and it was incompatible with life. The good news is that it is just one of those things rather than an actual genetic issue and there is absolutely no reason it would happen again. The bad news is I am 36 soon and I think perhaps I have missed my opportunity for baby number 2 xx
