Hey I'm 28 weeks pregnant and the past two days I have had weird vision like when you look at a bright light and look away, my bp is normal, and I haven't got any noticeable swelling. I have had heart palpitations throughout this pregnancy and am feeling a bit merghh like I have no energy. This is my 2nd pregnancy any advice ?

Hi , I’m 29 weeks and I’m like that also . Its just hormones and BP runs a bit lower in general when pregnant which doesn’t help, I think once you haven’t got migraines and / or high blood pressure. If you feel sick with it or bad enough to have to sit / lie down then I would get checked

Poppiesway1 · 05/02/2022 18:12

@mummyaieey Book ASAP to see you GP or midwife and take a urine sample with you,

endofagain · 05/02/2022 18:17

Phone 111. Visual disturbances in pregnancy should never be ignored. You say your BP is normal, but things can change. You need your urine tested too. They will tell you where you can get checked.

McHelenz · 05/02/2022 18:45

I had this prior to 12 weeks and again around 30 weeks. I was seeing flashing lights and had pins and needles in my face and down my left side. When I was 30 weeks I went to maternity assessment and they said it was an atypical migraine. Might be worth speaking with MAU?

This is also my 2nd and I never had this prior.

Kroot · 05/02/2022 19:56

When you say your BP is normal, are you measuring it yourself now or was it normal at your last appointment?

Hadenough21 · 05/02/2022 20:24

I would try to see your midwife asap or if she’s not available then call your maternity assessment at the hospital you’re booked at. I’d want a check up just in case of pre-eclampsia, better safe than sorry.

NatriumChloride · 05/02/2022 20:43

Could be a sign of pre-eclampsia, op. I second PPs in that you need to be seen

Misreadprob · 05/02/2022 20:46

Get checked. Urine, bloods. Could be something could be nothing really I had glasses in one of my pregnancies when checks came back normal

I was in hospital for a high pulse rate last week and there my body was normal, I also have a no machine at home and it seems in normal range. I am calling my maternity unit this morning as the vision has not changed and it's giving me a headache now

Please call 111 now. The headache is concerning. You need your bp checked and urine tested.

Kroot · 06/02/2022 09:50

Hopefully you’ve been seen now, totally agree with all the posters saying you need checking. I would’ve phoned last night rather than waiting till morning, never ignore visual disturbances in pregnancy.
Please let us know how you get on.

mummyaieey · 06/02/2022 11:13

So I am there now my blood pressure was normal, my pulse rate however was 130-150.
Not sure what this means I did have an echo last week was waiting on the results to see my consultant on weds.

They have sent me home, and said everything's fine it's just so weird because it's literally like I can see flashing lights but everything seems to be fine other then the high pulse rate. And headache that's been on going

So I've been sent home, everything looks fine but anyone got any ideas what is going on with my vision? It's like I'm seeing flashing lights at times. And my legs feel like there's water under the skin if that makes sense just a little swollen. I'm well hydrated have eaten, my thyroid is normal my urine was fine, as was my blood pressure.

I have this full headache that's still on going

If you have visual disturbance, headaches and legs that are swelling are they not worried about pre-eclampsia?! I’m a bit surprised you’ve been sent home with no explanation for those symptoms. Did they do a blood test?

They did not take my blood today, they just looked at my bloods from last week when I was in and said all was fine.

I've also had paracetamol since being home and still have a headache, am I just worrying for nothing?

I only had visual disturbance, no swelling and no headache and at first normal blood pressure, a day later my BP was through the roof and I was on heavy medication to bring it down before emergency induction. If this persists phone 111.

endofagain · 06/02/2022 21:15

I think you were not assessed by someone who knows any obstetrics. Those are all red flags. If you are feeling worse you need to go back.

Kroot · 06/02/2022 21:42

Who saw you? Was it maternity triage?
Phone your midwife/GP in the morning. Don’t ignore this. You need your urine checked for protein in it, and BP as well - what was your blood pressure in the past and what was it yesterday? If there is no protein in your urine and your blood pressure hasn’t increased too much, see an optician. Make sure it isn’t your eyes causing this.

If you press down with a finger on your shin/lower leg, and then let go, does it leave a little dimple behind? If it does, that would imply swelling with fluid.

Kroot · 06/02/2022 21:44

@mummyaieey you’re not worrying for no reason. These are all signs to act on. Don’t worry about making a fuss or bothering anyone, go back in to be checked if your headache is worse

Fleanne · 06/02/2022 21:59

I had high pulse and problems with my vision which were caused by over active thyroid, later diagnosed as Graves' disease. If this wasn't one of the blood tests they did (I understand they aren't standard) then maybe worth asking for these to be done. Echoing the posts above, please go back and ask for more tests.

wildeatheart · 06/02/2022 22:03

Have you seen an optician? Flashing lights and headache can be visual migraine or something more serious like detached retina

mummyaieey · 07/02/2022 07:15

They tested my thyroid and said it was all fine
