Bleeding at 10 weeks.. absolutely terrified!

Hi,

I’m waiting for a call back from the midwives but not sure how long that will be. I got the voicemail which said within 24 hours. So I’m after advice/reassurance!

I am currently 10 weeks pregnant and started with light spotting yesterday, it was just pink on the tissue when I wiped a couple of times. All was ok until this afternoon when it’s started again. It’s redder and heavier this time.

I had a scan at 7 weeks for the same issue and all was ok, heartbeat was detected and their was no signs of anything being wrong. I was really reassured. But now this is happening I am worried sick again!!

Any advice or sharing of experiences (good or bad!) will be much appreciated xx

Can you call EPAC and tell them and get seen asap?

teenagersandtoddlers · 05/02/2022 18:00

Call the early pregnancy unit at your hospital

Emily6457 · 05/02/2022 18:12

Unfortunately my local EPU is closed due to covid (they’ve turned it into a covid ward). I have been told to call the midwife with any issues before 16 weeks and they’ll give advise. Currently waiting a call back from 111 out of hours GP as I wasn’t happy waiting 24 hours for the midwife x

So I have got to wait until Monday for a GP to call me. They may then refer me to an EPU. Going to be a long, hard weekend!

I bled off and on until 15 weeks. I had an early scan at around 8 weeks and all was ok. It did settle down.

Thinking of you op. It's rubbish to go through this x

newtolineofduty · 05/02/2022 19:20

Sorry to hear you're going through this OP. I bled during both my pregnancies early days which turned out to be bruising where the baby had nestled in, essentially a small haematoma that was coming away. If you had a healthy seven week scan the chances of the pregnancy continuing are REALLY high so just try and relax and distract/look after yourself as much as possible over the weekend xx

SmallestInTheClass · 05/02/2022 19:23

I also had bleeding at 9 weeks, turned out it was to do with the placenta. I had to have a CS but I have a healthy 10 year old. Hope you get some medical support soon

Newuser82 · 05/02/2022 19:34

I bled early at 5 weeks and again a few more times into the pregnancy. The first one I was told by on call gp that I was probably miscarrying. I'm currently sitting next to my 8 year old watching tv! Best of luck! X

Do you have a private scan clinic you could go to? Somewhere like Babybond? Our local Babybond is staffed by the same sonographers that cover the hospital. The waiting is tough and it doesn’t sound like there’s much of a local EPU service.

I had bleeding with my daughter from 7-12 weeks. It was very stressful but turned out ok. Good luck.

Emily6457 · 05/02/2022 20:05

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply.

It’s great to hear so many of you have gone on to have successful pregnancies. I have two little girls and didn’t experience anything like this when I was pregnant with them.

I may look into a private scan, we had one at 7 weeks which was private but it’s just quite expensive. So I was hoping to get some support through the NHS this time.
Xx

The NHS may not scan you, not saying they won't but a friend of mine had a very obvious miscarriage and they wouldn't offer an early scan, she had to go private. If you're 10 weeks now when is your 12 week scan booked for?

xXwhenwillitendXx · 05/02/2022 20:17

I had 2 massive bleeds in the first 12 weeks, it was just a hematoma outside the sack and completely harmless. If you are that anxious and can't get to go for a scan at your local hospital, I would book a private scan. Have a look online to see of any near you are doing any offers.

Hairyfriend · 05/02/2022 20:21

Sorry you are going through this OP. There are many women on here that do have bleeding, and go onto have a healthy pregnancy.

You did ask for all outcomes though. I had a scan at 7 weeks and all was well, but bled at 10 weeks. Brown spotting, pink then red and heavy. Called 2 hospital EPU's and both wouldn't see me, but said that pre-covid, they certainly would have! Unfortunately, I MC'd at home. It was my 3rd MC, so I knew what was happening.

I don't want to make this upsetting or TMI. I kept the foetus in a sterile container and because it was my 3rd MC, the EPU did genetic testing on it. With my 2nd MC, they wouldn't do genetic tests, but did provide a histology (autopsy) report. This did provide some comfort that it wasn't a molar pregnancy.

I obviously do hope you don't go onto to MC, but if you can get the pregnancy tested, even if not for genetics, it can provide some reassurance Flowers

I bled heavily from w10 to w18, baby fine. Sometimes it means something and sometimes it doesn’t.

Nik84 · 05/02/2022 20:39

I think as you’ve had a bleed before and all was well it is a positive sign. I lost mine at 10 weeks last week. I started with a bit of brown discharge in the morning that turned red when I wiped throughout the day. The next day the cramps and heavy bleeding started, followed by the miscarriage. It all happened quite quickly. I truly hope you have a better outcome, sending you lots of love and strength xx

Lollypop0101 · 05/02/2022 21:25

I also had a massive bleed (bright red dripping down my legs) suddenly at 11 weeks. Even passed a massive clot I was sure was the baby! It stopped as quick as it started but I was adamant it was over even though I had no cramps. Got scanned and all was well baby was bouncing about! The sonographer couldn’t even see where it has come from and said sometimes the cervix just gets irritated and can bleed, I wouldn’t worry yet x

Emily6457 · 05/02/2022 23:16

Thank you.

I was told by 111 to go to A&E due to heavier bleeding (still not enough to fill a Pad though) and large clots. They sent me home but have a scan booked for Monday. Bleeding seems to have calmed down now. Xx

I had a massive gush of blood at 10 weeks, no spotting or anything before and no pain. Looked like a murder scene. I thought it was game over and also had to wait a few days for a scan. Baby was absolutely fine and there was no obvious sign for the bleed. I'm now coming on 18 weeks and had no issues since.

Sending love and fingers crossed for a positive outcome for you xx

Emily6457 · 06/02/2022 09:45

The bleeding slowed down over night, and there was hardly any this morning. I booked a private scan for this afternoon as I needed to know either way. After reading all your stories I knew it could go either way for me.
However I have just had a huge gush of blood and passed 3/4 massive clots. So I am guessing I have lost the baby.
At least I’ll know for sure later. Xx

I have my fingers crossed for you xx

Emily6457 · 06/02/2022 17:06

I’ve been for a private scan. The baby is gone, which we knew anyway. Got to see what the hospital say tomorrow as to where we go from here. I’m hoping that it’s all gone and I don’t need treatment. I’m still getting pains and feeling weak but the bleeding has eased xx

Diamondbabe · 06/02/2022 17:07

So sorry to hear this x

Wonkydonkey44 · 06/02/2022 17:21

I'm so sorry Thanks

Nik84 · 06/02/2022 17:22

So sorry to hear this. I had milder pains in the evenings for a few days after my miscarriage. I had a scan and there was still something left behind, thankfully I passed this a few days later. It can take a few days for your body to remove everything. I felt very down and didn’t trust my body, but it did what it should in the end. Be kind to yourself and try not to let your thoughts take you places that bring you down. Lots of love xx

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 06/02/2022 17:49

So sorry OP x
