Feels like one constant contraction

Hi I am 39+5 and for the last half hour I have had what feels like one constant contraction! It’s not easing at all! My stomach is rock hard and the pain goes all the way round my back! Has anyone else experienced this and it turned out to be real labour? Thanks. Not sure wether to call the hospital?

I had my baby on Saturday - Friday late afternoon I had what felt like a strong period cramp and lower back pain all afternoon. Waters broke 6.30 sat morning - sounds similar to me!
Good luck 🤞

Sounds like Braxton Hicks if your bump goes hard.

Hawkmoth · 04/02/2022 22:04

I think give them a call.

Fallagain · 04/02/2022 22:05

How bad is the pain? I would ring your maternity ward for some advice but I suspect they will suggest having a shower or bath or a walk to ease the pain.

Is your baby moving as normal?

They are not braxton hicks! This is my 4th baby. I have had braxton hicks since about 16 weeks in this pregnancy. This is a constant contraction that isn’t easing! It hurts all the way round my stomach and back. It’s really painful. 😩

If it is as you say, you need to ring 999 for an ambulance. I don't want to worry you, but it needs to be checked urgently. It is impossible to say online, but please seek urgent care via 999.

JustOneCup · 04/02/2022 22:11

Call 999 and get to hospital asap And good luck xx

Did yours not ease at all in between either? I’ve had 3 baby’s before and never had this. X

Not had this with four labours. Get checked out and good luck!

mama3bears · 04/02/2022 22:12

Call your delivery suite for advice. They'll probably ask you to go in to be checked over which will be best for both you and baby.
Good luck for the delivery

Call the hospital. That's what they are there for.

Definitely call your hospital. But to maybe reassure you a little bit that it could be OK - I did have this 2 or 3 times in 3rd trimester (first PG). It was excruciating for well over an hour each time and I was curled up on the floor. I called the hospital first time and went in for monitoring. On the monitor it looked like i was in late stages of labour but nothing happened and they told me it was braxton hicks. No idea if it actually was (nothing like what they describe them as being like) but baby was fine, i eventually got sent home and didn't give birth for another few weeks.

I hope everything is OK with you. Do call the hospital though and tell a medical expert what is happening - especially as this is your 4th and it's different. They'll take you seriously I'm sure and better to check.

I had this with my second labour. No pain, then wham...constant contraction...daughter born in under 2 hours.
Get checked at the hospital. Hope all goes well.
