how early? is she sure it's a show? a show doesn't necessarily mean that labour is imminent in my experience

ADDICTEDtosayingHAAAAAAAPYxmas · 30/12/2007 22:57

um 29 weeks/

had a show at 38 weeks went to 1 day before due date

becklesparkle · 30/12/2007 23:07

A friend of mine lost her plug at 16 weeks but baby didn't come until 37 weeks. Mightily scary I should imagine but doesn't necessarily mean imminent labour. Has your friend spoken to her MW/been checked over?

ADDICTEDtosayingHAAAAAAAPYxmas · 30/12/2007 23:09

becklesparkle - do you know if she had to have a stitch or anything in her cervix?

SleighlyMadSanta · 30/12/2007 23:17

I lost mucus between 25 & 27 weeks (26+6 to be precise).

I was told it was part of my mucous plug and nothing to worry about as my cervix was still tightly closed at 25 weeks and 26+5 by visual examination.

I gave birth at 26+6.

ADDICTEDtosayingHAAAAAAAPYxmas · 30/12/2007 23:21

do you mean 36 weeks you h
gave birth at? confused!

OP posts:
SleighlyMadSanta · 30/12/2007 23:34

me?

No I mean 26 weeks and 6 days

ADDICTEDtosayingHAAAAAAAPYxmas · 30/12/2007 23:45

but i thought it was tightly closed then?

OP posts:
SleighlyMadSanta · 30/12/2007 23:50

It was tightly closed 28hrs before giving birth - yes.

SleighlyMadSanta · 30/12/2007 23:51

(and 'long')

ADDICTEDtosayingHAAAAAAAPYxmas · 30/12/2007 23:52

ah right i got you now. that's what confused me.

SleighlyMadSanta · 30/12/2007 23:54

No worries.

HOw is your friend? Is she having a stich?

ADDICTEDtosayingHAAAAAAAPYxmas · 30/12/2007 23:58

i don't know. she hasn't rung the mw yet. she won't ring the labour ward cos she says they'll keep her in.

OP posts:
SleighlyMadSanta · 31/12/2007 00:00

Bloody helll get her in. She needs to be checked at 29wks.

She will ikely be kept in, but she will also get steroids which will mature the babies lungs in case she goes into labour.

She can't wait to go into labour for the steroids. They have to be given 24-72 before birth to be effective.

I got them 20mins beofre birth

ADDICTEDtosayingHAAAAAAAPYxmas · 31/12/2007 00:01

i've told her but she won't listen i think she's gone to bed now but will nag her in the morning to ring mw.

SleighlyMadSanta · 31/12/2007 00:03

Please do what you can.

Delivering at 29 weeks isn't disasterous but it certainly isn't fun.

becklesparkle · 31/12/2007 14:11

How is your friend today Addicted? My friend did not need a stitch or anything in her cervix and the only reason she had her baby before 40 weeks was because of problems she had due to her diabetes. Hope your friend is okay.

ADDICTEDtosayingHAAAAAAAPYxmas · 31/12/2007 14:36

no she won't ring? now she says she has cramps in the top of her tummy.

OP posts:
ADDICTEDtosayingHAAAAAAAPYxmas · 31/12/2007 14:37

and back ache. i'm really worried. she's already 2.5cm dilated cos of slow labour she was in a few weeks ago which they managed to stop.

OP posts:
ADDICTEDtosayingHAAAAAAAPYxmas · 31/12/2007 14:41

btw she had steroids before when she went into labour ... would she have to have them again?

OP posts:
SleighlyMadSanta · 31/12/2007 15:09

Not sure. I had them at 24wks with DD3 (different preg).

My consultant ummed and arred. SHe seemed to suggest that if I had them at 24wks I couldn't have them/they wouldn't work at 27wks.

The effects last for 2 weeks apparently.

If she has alread had threatened/prem labour she is foolish for not getting cheked out now.

If she is 2.5cm dliated she could just be losing hte mucous plug as the cervix can't hold it in IYSWIM. It may be no more than that.

If it was me I would want to be in hosp knowing I was in the right place. In fact I practiacally self admitted myself for 5 days with DD3.

ADDICTEDtosayingHAAAAAAAPYxmas · 31/12/2007 17:25

she says the cramps have stopped now.
