Sickness bug hit our household this week so decided on a easy quick lasagna ready meal from Tesco that your just microwave. It wasn’t until I had ate it that I realised our microwave setting was on defrost and not on high. It was definitely warm but I had left it in the microwave for about 5 mins after it finished as I was just pottering about so it didn’t occurs to me that it wasn’t boiling hot. So now I’m worrying about listeria. Is it common in ready meals? Anyone one has something similar and been fine? 31 weeks pregnant and not sure why the anxiety kicks up a notch in the last trimester

Try not to worry - listeriosis is pretty rare and even if you get it (unlikely) baby will probably be fine. Obviously there is a small risk. I think if you get sickness, diarrhoea, vomiting or a fever I would contact your GP straight away and tell them about the lasagne (I'm not a medical professional though).

Very unlikely. You can get listeria from pretty much anything in theory (like even lettuce) but the chances are miniscule. Would imagine this ready meal was one of the least likely things, as I expect it's already cooked and you're just heating it up? So the listeria was probably killed at the original cooking by the manufacturer. By not heating it correctly you are at risk of some other bacteria having been on it in the fridge which you then didn't kill by proper heating. Again it's very unlikely to be a problem.

If its microwave meal its already cooked so dont worry x

If you’re not sick and vomiting/ on the toilet then you’re likely fine!
I’ve had real food anxiety this pregnancy but I’m starting to be better - even when I cooked chicken I was overcooking it because I was so scared but then it just tasted so bad!

I wouldn’t worry xxx
